Ken Holland Press Conference

Holland's moves this past season reduced the Kings point totals by 15 points and I believe 13 wins. I hope Fiala can come back and save the organization. I also believe that QB will be a + on the 1st line. I like his speed. I do agree with Waynet about getting the pucks out of the zone. If that doesn't change, the Kings will struggle terribly.

Holland laid out the same uninspiring lineup for next year that I posted in another thread a couple of days ago. The best we can look forward to would be acquiring the #1 LD. Hard to imagine right now who Ken would target and what that trade would cost the Kings. But any path to improvement begins at the blueline.

This press conference reminds me of the saying don’t watch what they say. Watch what they do. We’ll see if we get a top 6 center or a more mobile defenseman. We’ll see if Clarke has a bigger role & what he’s getting paid. And we’ll see what Doughty’s future with the Kings looks like. As for the coach, I’m glad he’s doing a serious search & that DJ Smith is a candidate. He hasn’t earned the job but he’s earned that.

BTW, was there a Robitaille press conference? Because he’s someone who should answer some questions.

One thing about rebuilding that I’ve said that he kind of repeated. That you can go into a rebuild for 8-10 years with no guarantee of success. But what I realize is that if you’re a good GM & built a good organization, you can successfully rebuild. Because you make good decisions & have everyone working towards a common goal. But if you’re not a good GM & don’t have a good organization, you’re not going to succeed. Then you’re the Atlanta Thrashers. Anyway, that’s not to say he’s a bad GM. But I don’t think that’s the real reason he doesn’t want to rebuild. It’s really that he’s very old & isn’t going to be in this job or in life very long. So why would he want to suck for the next few years & not see any payoff?
