After a summer spent talking about a brand evolution, players changing jersey numbers, and custom beer bottles, it’s finally time to focus on some actual hockey in Los Angeles. With roughly 30% roster turnover, Kings head coach Jim Hiller has a lot of variables and options to sort through during training camp this year. Unlike past seasons, where the 23-man roster was pretty set weeks in advance of opening night, there are currently a myriad of ways he can put together his reconfigured lineup.
Prospects like Alex Turcotte, Akil Thomas, and Brandt Clarke are expected to graduate into full-time NHL players. Additionally, trades and free agency have brought Warren Foegele, Tanner Jeannot, Joel Edmundson, and Darcy Kuemper into the fold.

Wednesday also saw 23-year-old forward Arthur Kaliyev sign a one-year contract, so he too will be looking for a way to secure a top-9 roster spot.
With 68 players scheduled to begin camp with the Kings, things will begin thinning out next week, soon after their six-game preseason slate gets going in Utah with the game formerly known as Frozen Fury.
There will only be two opportunities to see the Kings play exhibition games in SoCal this year, once in Ontario and once in Anaheim (more on that below). Fans can also catch free scrimmages at the Kings training facility in El Segundo beginning on Thursday, Sept. 19.
Below is a breakdown of what the team has planned for the next few days. Please note that most players will frequently rotate between groups, with a new mix of guys released each day.
