Don’t doubt Jacob Ingham. It’s a lesson everybody should have learned by now.
Originally selected in the sixth round by Los Angeles at the 2018 NHL Draft, the 6-foot-5 netminder went on to post impressive numbers in the OHL before rocketing to the top of the Kings depth chart for goaltending prospects just a few years later.
Unfortunately, his career was derailed last season when he missed nearly a year due to back surgery. He spoke about it at length here:
With his entry-level contract expiring last summer, Ingham signed a one-year AHL only contract for 2023-24. He then was arguably one of the organization’s best goaltenders in training camp and preseason.
Although he has picked up three wins for the Ontario Reign in limited AHL action this season, he spent the majority of the year with ECHL Greenville, which has given him an opportunity to have extended playing time.
In 24 appearances with the Swamp Rabbits this season, Ingham has gone 15-6-1 with a .916 save percentage.
Based on his strong performance, Mayor’s Manor has confirmed the Kings have signed him to an NHL contract.
He now officially re-joins Erik Portillo as the top two young goalies in the team’s pipeline.
Word is, Ingham is being recalled to the Reign and could start tonight’s game at Toyota Arena.
