The Kings have a new radio home – both on the dial and online – with ESPN after the club announced a new multi-year agreement Thursday.
All playoff, regular-season and preseason games will be broadcast on the ESPN LA app, as well as the team’s own app, with about 25 games airing on ESPN’s AM 710 radio station. The pact ended the Kings’ agreement with iHeart Radio, which began in 2018. The club previously appeared on KSPN 710 between 2002 and 2006.
“It’s great to be part of the ESPN Radio Family once again and we are thrilled to be partnering with their passionate team to take our radio play-by-play and audio programming forward,” Kings president Luc Robitaille said in a statement. “We look forward to bringing the excitement of LA Kings hockey to our core fanbase while also having the opportunity to reach new listeners. We are also thrilled to work with the on-air talent and leadership at ESPN Radio 710, who share our vision and are long-time friends based at L.A. LIVE.”
The Kings effectively consolidated their television and radio teams into a simulcast last season amid various partnership uncertainties that contributed to the departure of television play-by-play voice Alex Faust. Though details were not yet finalized, the news release indicated that the radio content on both platforms would “vary in the form of a simulcast and standalone broadcasts.”
The Kings won’t be alone in their new airwave home, as the Lakers, Rams and LAFC are also partnered with the station, which is owned by Good Karma Brands.
“Our partnership with the LA Kings allows us to bring fans closer to the action than ever before,” Good Karma vice president Sam Pines said in a statement. “Both of our fan bases can look forward to an enhanced live broadcast experience with all games streamed on the all-new ESPN LA App as well as expanded Kings coverage, year-round.”
