Kings Fire Hiller

Hiller had to go but replacing him with Smith id s joke. His defemse is pretty much last in the legur. Holland messed up on this decision. He should have been doing his homework and had the permanent replacement in mind, then fire Hiller and place the coach that will leading the team for years in place. Broduer, Gallant, Laviolet, Tortorlla, are avalable and there are some very good up and coming coaches in the pipeline that could take this team to the next level. Kings under Luc and Holland are in bad shape.

Agreed. Kind of tired of promoting from within. This team needs outside perspective and fresh ideas.

Who cares who the interim is? This season is a throwaway, this team is going nowhere. Holland will have time to thoroughly interview coaches in the summer and decide on the best candidate. That could not be done now. If it's Smith next season, then worry, but now? This is the right way to go about it.

No idea what comes next but this move had to be made. The timing didn’t matter.
I liked Hiller. I hoped he would do well. But this team did not play well and the Coach gets the blame. A story as old as time.

I don’t think we should place this all on Hiller though. These players have gotten two coaches and a GM fired. That’s where the ultimate responsibility lies. Not to absolve Hiller. This team has been underperforming all season. The coach is accountable when that’s the case.

I do like Greene being part of this interim group. His history shows that he clearly was a very valuable part of the organization and the Cups.

How is this not obvious to everyone?

That said, Greene’s promotion was a legit surprise. I’m hopeful he brings some needed accountability and relatability to that room. I hope Holland could see something in him himself and this is not purely a Luc directive to keep the former King train going.

He should have be fired during the Olympic break. Every game counts! I'm disappointed with DJ Smith promoted as head coach. I wanted a coach with some backbone. Kings' schedule is tough. I really don't know how I see this team, and that's the problem. They're the "meh" team. It's the same song, different verse- THEY NEED SCORING!

The firing should have occurred after losing to the Oilers last season. Here's hoping Smith isn't the second coming of Willie Desjardins

Oh, I certainly hope he is nowhere near as good as Willie. He's 99% not going to be the coach next season, and they need as high a pick as they can get.

I kind of hope he is. We'd get a high pick and he won't be resigned.

Worst case scenario he gets the Kings to the playoffs, loses 4-2 and gets a multi year contract regardless.

What's with the really bad timing?

A great comeback gets you the boot!

Not many coaches are looking to work here.

The way I see this move..... much like pulling a goalie when losing 3-0 and the team in playing like garbage. A wake up call, so to speak. That is all this move can equate to. A wake up call to the players, as nothing on ice (structurally) is going to change. See if the Kings go on a roll and start winning/playing well. Time is ticking on the direction of the org at the deadline.

I also wonder if the timing of this has anything to do with Jon Rosen's X/twitter comments yesterday? Make any move to show you are fixing things?

Just maybe this is a sign that the Kings are now sellers. Sell at the deadline and place all the blame on Hiller (where some of it belongs).

This should put to bed any discussion about whether Holland is going to make any outlandish ‘last gasp’ style deadline deals, right? I am not so sure, as the timing of this move is rather suspect..
