Kings Interested In Alex Tuch

He'd be an excellent addition - may have to send Gav the other way to afford him.
Shame that Moore is having an off year. Could have been 1 for 1 if TO were lighting the lamp as he did last year.

But Portillo is a useful commodity. Ontario's has been kicking ass. Lee and Helenius could also be on the table.

Adding Tuch could make Turcotte available. Just don't include George or Greentree if a prospect is needed.

Yeah, problem is even all those players combined wouldn't free up enough salary to bring on Tuch. It would have to be a player with a decent salary cap hit going back in the trade. That said, the most expendable are those who hit FA this year and we do not plan to resign.

I agree that Moore would be ideal as we would have to clear a forward slot to fit Tuch in, and Moore would fit well on Buffalo. No reason why it couldn't be Moore and a pick going back. His offense has taken a step back but he is still a good two-way forward and his offense projects to pick back up.

Turcotte is still extremely undervalued. I would hold onto him in any situation but a last resort.

I would still offer Moore as the primary piece. Salaries are a wash. Guess I didn’t make that clear. The other players I mentioned were potential sweeteners if making the deal involves additional players or becomes a multi player deal.

Losing Moore would be disappointing, but he's just not the same player this year that he's been the last 2 or 3.

The speed at which Buffalo would say yes to that even as a rental would tell you all you need to know about how fleeced you just got.
Then the Kings would be wise to do it, unless they plan to resign Gav. I'm not sure Buffalo really needs defensemen though, even though the rumor is they have made Powers available (and possibly Byram).

Gav for Tuch, without Gav resigning with Buffalo is a fleecing, but it wouldn't be the Kings getting fleeced on that deal. Maybe we could get more for Gav as a rental, but I doubt it.

Now if both were signed for the same term, on their current deals, I'd agree with you.

Yes please.
This is a good trade rather than a rental. Get bigger and with solid offensive production.

Let's put it this way, I think come July 1 you're gonna be even madder with how much money Blake is gonna spend on Gav.
The cap room that's about to come combined with an overall weak draft is going to lead to weird numbers and cap percentages.
I'm with VCRW that Moore's contract and skill level plus a sweetener would be more in line with the basis of a deal for a player like Tuch. While he is a first line player in Buffalo, he's a first line player in Buffalo. Pining over his playoff stats from 4 seasons ago is what brings his ultimate worth to a contending club. Not sure how valid that thought it but his size and speed would seem to be complimentary to Kopi and Kempe and allay fears about Turcs ability to handle playoff hockey considering the rate he's ragdolled at the moment.

Just to point out, I actually said this in this very thread (see above).

Hey if Blake wants to resign Gav then I said from the start not to trade him. But if he does not re-sign Gav and holds on to him past the trade deadline then it was a huge waste of potential assets. Yes Gav is great to have for the playoffs, but it's not worth losing him for nothing.

I don't really worry about Blake overspending on contract extensions these days as it's pretty much a given that he will. It's not an area of strength to his game as a GM.

So this might be spitballing or some degree of tortured logic, but I wonder about the wisdom of swapping Gavy for Tuch.

The idea of getting Tuch is to make a run in the playoffs (at least I think so, although could be viewed as obtaining with eyes on the future).
I guess my point is that getting Tuch while losing Gavy is not consistent. Either you’re all-in or not.

I know the concern about losing Gavy for nothing. And I would made the deal in a heartbeat if it’s one-to-one.
But I can’t see the point if the goal is to get past the first round. Losing Gavy makes it very difficult to see the Kings getting a series win.

Now, if it’s somehow a larger deal that brings a replacement for Gavy then it makes far more sense.

Moore and Gavy for Tuch and ____ might make more sense to me.

Again, I’m just thinking through it. But I’m very much in favor of getting Tuch.

Tuch is not enough for this team to make a run.
