Confirmed with Link Kings name Holland their 10th GM in History

The only reason, $$.
They have $17M for 3-5 players. It’s not going to be a problem to keep both him and Marchand, the latter potentially willing to take less in Florida to play for a contender on a shorter term deal.

Those deals get signed right after the parade, assuming they keep playing the way they are.

Actually, they also have to deal with Ekblad, so the potential to lose one of those 2 is there.

Bennett is the perfect fit for this Kings team. The problem is he fits on every other team too. If I’m Bill Zito I’m moving heaven and earth to keep him on the Panthers. Why would Bennett leave?
I agree, and the Kings would need to pay him an extra mill per season just for his take home paychecks fo wash out with what he earns in Florida. It’ll be difficult for any team to pry him away from Florida unless they grossly overpay, to the point where it’s a fairly extreme case of diminishing returns.

Time to bring it back, now that politics have calmed down.

Please keep politics off this hockey board. Thanks.
Boo hoo!
I'm equally sick of the perpetual whining that FL and TX and other teams are somehow getting an unfair advantage because of their low tax rates. We can all go to the state assembly and ask for an athletes exemption so that the Kings, Ducks, and Sharks can build a better team. LMK how that turns out for you.

”Perpetual whining”? ”somehow getting an unfair advantage”? Are you seriously saying that this isn’t a real thing?

Since I live in Sweden I couldn’t care less about how you americans pay your taxes in the different states. But there is no way you can make me think that strictly from a hockey point of view there isn’t an extreme advantage for Tampa, Florida and some other teams that they can pay their star players 1-2 mill less per year than Kings can.

I don’t care a bit about the politics behind that, to me it’s simple math and that’s just not right.

I’m sitting here, watching the world championship and feel how I REALLY look forward to the new season!!

Yes, the end of this one sucked big time!! But we might have something pretty fun coming up. Lots of parts are already in place and we are in a pretty good position to add some real quality to an already good team!

So enjoy the summer my friends, soon we will back to our usual ways of dreaming of the Stanley Cup after two straight wins and calling for the heads of everyone after two losses… 😜

The NHL can’t do anything about the actual dollars paid but I believe they could offer extra cap space for markets where local taxes impact the contract value. The vast majority of teams reside in states/provinces where income is taxed.

Not hard to imagine a scenario where those team get more cap space to make up for the advantage Dallas, Tampa Bay and Seattle get for having no state income tax. Not a perfect solution but imagine if the Kings had 14.4% more cap space to compete w/Dallas for a free agent (see: Mikko Rantanen)
