Confirmed with Link Kings name Holland their 10th GM in History

Well, since a large portion of the free agents we would love to have on this team are immigrants, they're probably on the protesters' side. So, not really sure if that's the stone you want to throw.

Um, he mentioned the rioters. There are protesters and there are rioters. The rioters need to go and if you think that the destruction of a city will attract UFA's, I just.... well I do not agree.

Vancouver, Philadelphia and DC surely won’t be signing any UFAs any time soon…
I know these riots are spreading. I did not say it would detract from signing UFA's, I just do not see it helping to attract them. I was responding to someone that was of the opinion that it might help attract the "immigrant" UFA's. That was my point.

Anyway, this thread is getting derailed quickly...... Lets get back on topic.

If a player doesn’t want to live in a big city they can always sign in Winnipeg.

I can’t believe I’m about to praise Gary Bettman but his comments, in this clip, about the tax advantages some teams have can also be applied to the challenges of living in the 2nd biggest city in the US. If the pros outweigh the cons there’s a fit. That’s true of any job offer.

That is true, and that is a good clip.

Kings players generally live in the South Bay / Manhattan Beach area. That is FAR FAR different from the area around downtown LA, "The City".

don't make me do it...too late.

Los Angeles, all of it is for everyone. I hope one day our new free agents, smile when they take the ride atop a open aired bus with the cup in their arms, smiling at our city, that has become their new home.
=)

I hope Holland calls on Miller. He would be a very interesting option for the 2nd pairing.
I am not sure if I oppose this. Have not watched him a lot lately, but I seem to recall he is not the greatest in his own end. He has a good stick at breaking up plays, and has size and speed. Could do worse I guess.

What about Miller - Gavi? Too expensive? And should the Kings give up on Spence?
Miller isn’t really all that good at playing defense. Mikey and Gavi were one of the league’s best defensive pairs before DD returned.

Yes, please. Give up on Spence. His progress reversed this past season.

Its going to be interesting to see how Schmidt parlays this one year in Florida. No question Bennets lifted his stock the most, but Schmidt is looking like that 6 million dollar Dman again.

Take a look at Florida’s blue line. They have a wide variety of skills, sizes and types. The Kings under Blake had a very rigid framework for d-men. Maybe there’s some room for a player with a particular set of skills that the rest of the rearguard lacks.
The most important thing they do is murder people on the halfwall in the offensive zone, and in the corners and in front of the net in the defensive zone.

They are also over 6’ and weigh close to 200 Lbs, minimum

K’Andre Miller is 6’ 5” 210 and has a single season high of 162 hits (22-23).

For reference Gavrikov was credited with 50 hits this season.

I think Mikey and Gavi would be a better second pair. Find that LD1, Mr. Holland!

Where to find such a player? The LD1 store in Manhatten Beach? :wine:

Perhaps his progress will reverse again?

As to Miller . . . I'm not sure I cared much for the Blueshirts' style of play. It put a lot of pressure on the d-men in the neutral zone and their own end. The talent is still there, and a more structured system could restore his play . . . maybe . . . .

LD1 has been the biggest hole on the team for quite a while now. Blake ignored it. Hope Holland has some answers. A first pairing of Mikey and Drew aren’t leading this team to a Cup.

Spence is too small. He has neither the talent nor the toughness to overcome that reality.

Miller is only 25 and a RFA. Perhaps he could be re-educated… but his game was heading in the wrong direction this past season. His point totals have steadily declined for the last 2 seasons, as has his +/-. On the other hand, he is 6’ 5” and 210 lbs.
