Kings Penalty Kill, or lack thereof

First Kings game 12/30/67
Why is the Kings PK playing a box, instead of a diamond. They are giving up one-timers from the sides that are resulting in lots of goals against.

Ken Holland made some moves to improve the PK. Last season the Kings were ranked 8th overall and killed off 81.4% of the man advantages. After Hollands upgrades/changes the Kings are ranked 28th and only kill of 75.3%.

As for box vs diamond vs oval vs broken triangle, the only thing I can point to is.... ^^^^ the above changes and missing a happy Danault.

Jared Wright should start killing penalties. That kid has crazy acceleration, and good size.

It sure is worth a try. You can't break much more what's already very broken, so...

Not sure how much PK time he saw in the AHL as I can't for the life of me find the stats, but he scored 2 shorties, so it's likely he saw extensive PK time there. And Ontario is 4th overall in the standings and 4th overall in PK.

Just a hunch based on what the eye test tells me. To clarify, I’m not an NHL coach, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night..

their formation changes based on how the PP is aligned and the play is developing. Go back and rewatch the columbus and Montreal PP's... they switch from box to diamond a bunch. As columbus moves and shifts around the ice, the Kings move and adjust.

I'm all in.
I’ll be dropping off my résumé at the front office tomorrow. I would greatly appreciate any and all character references LGK is willing to put forth.

My first change implemented shall be to roster a 13th forward designated ‘the bastard executioner’, whose sole job will be to deliver career ending cross checks to the neck or lower back area of opposing players for any transgressions that involve the touching of a King’s goaltender.
