I think Jones, Burroughs, Englund, and Moverare can all be buried in the AHL with NO cap hit to the team, correct? Of course, if they are sent down they have to clear waivers and are subject to being snatched. Also, a few of those guys probably make guaranteed NHL salaries, but that’s irrelevant as long as ownership doesn’t care, since it has no bearing on the cap. I think the Reign have lost quite a few defenders, so I assume Jones, Burroughs, and Moverare are likely destined to be waived from the start, with Englund having perhaps a very slight inside track on the 3LD spot.

In my estimation all this does is create an intense competition for at least two or three of the defender slots, and will force the cream to rise to the top. If we assume that the Doughty/andersen pair, and the Spence/Gavrikov pair are essentially set in stone, that leaves 3 guys auditioning for the LD spot next to Clarke, and Clarke with a RD in Burroughs who will be nipping at his heels for NHL minutes, if he fails to perform

Yes any player making under 1.2M can be buried in the AHL with no cap hit to the NHL roster.

Unfortunately you left out Edmundson. The top 6 is set. The 7th dman slot is up for grabs.

The Kings have 13 D men signed and Spence unsigned. 1 of the 14 is Dvorak who very likely will spend one more season in a different league before he joins the AHL.

So there’s actually room for at least one more dman on the AHL roster. I assume they’re keeping that space open just in case one of the prospects or invitees wows in camp.

Ahh right, Edmundson. I must have blacked that entire situation out, for obvious reasons..

He was moderately decent on a bad Chicago second D pairing. When he was on the Avalanche, he was relegated to third pair, 7th defenseman and was also decent. He's no :harrold3: but he's serviceable.

Solid depth signing. Now the Kings can send down Moverare, Burroughs, or some other NHL/AHL tweener and not be worried that they have no more spare defenseman in case of injury.
