So having calmed down a bit, this is not a terrible signing. An upgrade to Englund; JE played on the 2nd pair for TO and will play on the 3rd here. Less than a 10% raise over his last contract. A steady, fairly nasty guy for Clarke to play with. And the Kings always have to overpay for UFAs. LA has never been a super attractive destination for UFAs for tax and other reasons, even after the Cup wins. So the Kings probably had to add another year to be able to sign him over whoever else was interested.
With him and Jeannot in the lineup the Kings are a lot less pleasant to play against.
