On the win tonight and grinding out a result
Yeah, obviously with the last game we weren’t satisfied, not happy, and we had to bounce back, which we did right away, early in the game. We tied things up at the end, big two points. Every single game is going to be big until the end, it’s do or die.
On finishing his goal and the passing play leading up to it
Yeah, definitely. I wasn’t even ready for it, I was just going to the net and [Arvidsson] put it on my tape. It was awesome.
On the team’s shot-blocking mentality tonight
Shot blocking has to be one of our weapons, we needed to block more shots and obviously we had some big ones tonight. Our D had a couple of blocks that were huge for the whole team. Big win on that.
On Jonathan Quick’s play tonight
Quickie has got lots of experience, two Stanley Cups, one [Conn Smythe], he’s still outstanding, he’s still battling with his heart on the line every night for us. He made some huge saves, some key saves. Quickie can change the game by himself, just by making a key save, he’s been outstanding for us all year. It’s hard to be a goalie, but he’s been really good for us.
On scoring again tonight, and having a career-high 24 goals this season
Since Day 1, the Kings have believed in me. I told myself that if a team believes in me, I’m going to give them everything I’ve got and obviously I want to beat myself [in goals] every year. That was a part of my objective. I’ve got some great wingers, the system we play in is great and I’ve got to give credit to my wingers. They give given me the chances, and the organization too, they’ve believed in me to spread my wings.

On the win tonight and his assessment of the game
One, recovery, for everybody in the organization, after that beatdown in Colorado, but I had a good feeling that we could gather ourselves and be productive again. Two, a good start, aggressive start, attacking. Three, checking skills were back to where they needed to be, and some timely saves by Quickie. When those things all come together, we have a chance at winning. When one of those are missing, it’s pretty tough for us. Same formula we’ve had all year.
On the shot blocks tonight, a season-high
It’s that time of the year, if you’re not getting in the lane right now there’s something wrong with you. It’s desperate hockey. I think this was our season-high, we had it from the back end, we had it from the front end and a lot of times those blocked shots in and around the net, the loose pucks laying there, we were able to clear that out after, so the secondary chances weren’t there. Good effort and a good commitment from everybody in that category.
On if results outweigh process at this point in the season
I’d be lying if I said no, because that Colorado game, we didn’t look at one minute of it. It was about the win or the loss and move on. This one, we looked more like we should tonight. We weren’t perfect, but we’ll go and try to fix a few things from tonight’s game, but the Colorado game, we didn’t even show anything to the players. Tonight, I think there are some useable pieces, but this time of the year, we’ll celebrate a win any way we can. Ugly, from behind, some of them you might not even deserve, but we need them and we’ll take them any way we can get them.
On being back in a game that felt like LA Kings hockey
It felt a lot more like it should for our group. We’re not a high-scoring team, we’re comfortable in tight, one-goal games, so it felt like we were playing the type of games we needed to play. We watched Colorado play against Carolina, those are two pretty good teams, and Colorado is doing it to everybody right now. I know I’m tying the two games together, and I shouldn’t be, but tonight was much more familiar to our group.
On the involvement of the crowd in tonight’s game
Absolutely. For us, our crowd has been really good from day one on. Last year, we didn’t have a crowd. A lot of these teams that went on to play later in the season played in front of full crowds, we were done early, so it’s nice to get that energy behind us. You can feel it on the bench right now, they’re excited, we’re excited and it does trickle onto our bench a little bit, gives us a little boost. We’re thankful for that.
