So many people were so high on Clarke and Spence. I'm not sure why. It will take a while for them to become solid defensemen, if ever. They are still young so it is what it is. I personally never had high expectations for these two. OT is going to be rough for the Kings this year without a decent defensemen

Spence and Clarke just helped hold the Bruins to 1 goal in regulation.

The Crowns have given up 3 goals this season:
Buffalo - a Byfield turn over
Boston - a poor pass by Anderson to Spence led to a break out, a tired overtime group got stuck in a change.
They’ve had solid goaltending.
Outside of that one turnover, Byfield has been impressive.
Fiala has been invisible, will Kempe score?
Being on the road for so long is tough. Might be time to remove a veteran on line 4 and replace with younger player who has been scratched.

just finished watching - decent game, clarke got exposed hard especially in ot. waiting for fiala and kempe to get to the rink still.

The Kings allowed 16 even strength shots on goal in regulation. That is elite defense including the uneven play of Clarke and Spence.

They are absolutely ready, it's 2 freaking games and the sky is falling with these kids. This isn't a cup team, they need to play every night and they will get better. Clarke has been called a no miss future star by pretty much everyone.

This. Losing to Pastrnak in OT in a morning game in Boston without Doughty is not a giant surprise.
How sick were we of the old, stale OT line-ups? I'm all for using Doughty's absence to season these kids.

The Kings did not manage the puck well the last 2 periods and in OT. It was awful. Not sure what they were thinking when on the 4-4 in the second. They were all dumb and making the wrong plays. Really stupid bit of hockey there.
The Kids will be fine. Clarke made some nice defensive plays. Made some mistakes, that is for sure. With Doughty out he is going to be fast tracked a bit. It is what it is.
People on here are reacting like DD never did dumb a$$ stuff out there.
Again, Clarke is playing more than he probably should be, and playing more important minutes than he should be. Give him some time, unfortunately, there is very little of that at this point.
