I disagree with the announcer. The breakdown happens when the two Kings defensemen are covering the same man. Second Laff is the closest to the front of the net. Why would Dubois come all the way over as he’s the farthest away from the play to cover the center of the net.

Who is Dubois covering? What threat is happening all the way over to where he is standing. So Laf takes the player at the net and here comes the defensemen from the same side. Dubois is still covering the opposite side defensemen that is not in the play.

How is Dubois defenseman not important but Lafs is uber important just as far away ? Why would you want a forward to go 10 feet to cover the front when the other forward is 3 feet away ?
Mess didn't explain why it wasn't on the closer forward to cover.

Agree. For 8.5 million, you need to be difference maker. That is basically what the announcers are saying right now.
The only good news is he can be bought out and he probably gets Blake canned this summer.

I understand your argument, I just think Laf should have adjusted there. Wrong or right, To me it’s the media picking the low hanging fruit and It’s getting old blaming one player for the entire teams struggles when there are breakdowns all over with this team.

I get it, I thought the same thing. My son was playing and I said he should drop down on that same type of play and the coach said, that's not his man it's the opposite forwards man since the play was not on his side.

The talking heads are blaming PLD on the goal where Richard was left alone, but I’m not so sure he’s completely to blame. Byfield left the front to try and overwhelm the B’s 3-2 down low, and in the replay, you can clearly see number 78 appears to have Richard marked, until he drifts off to the left. PLD seems like the last of the three forwards that should have been checking that man out front, unless you wanna blame him because he was technically playing center on that line, but if that was the case, what’s Byfield doing way down low like that?
Oh that aside, we wouldn’t even be discussing this, if it weren’t for the mental gaff on the goalies part. He should’ve easily pounced on that to cover, rather than kicking that little slow roller back in to play, and right onto the attacking forwards stick.
