GDT ***LA Kings @ Buffalo Sabres GDT 1/29/26 4:00pm on FanDuel***

I don't believe anyone predicted the Kings to beat Buffalo especially in Buffalo so this game was a loss even before it started.

I don't understand why Hiller didn't challenge the no goal call. Hiller seems to have a lack of situational awareness. Playing Buffalo in Buffalo, scoring goals against them will be very limited and you're down 2-0. At that point a 2-2 tie would be the best you'll do, if they award you that goal. If not, it's done anyway. Start the rebuild today!

I don't have a problem with Hiller not challenging. Despite what the league says, goalie interference calls are always subjective. Maybe you'll get the call, maybe you won't. It all depends on the whims of whoever's working in the Toronto war room. I wish they would make it so that the coach challenging could actually make an argument for what they think happened. Then Toronto could watch the play & say yes that happened or no it didn't. Like in this case the goalie made the save after the interference.

Toronto still pissed about the World Series…rarely will things end in the Kings favor ever again 🤷🏼

***empire guessed 2 ppgs, but after the first had already been score, @Nyssa42

I hope the Kings appreciate my steadfast refusal to give the TV up so my wife and daughter could watch the new Bridgerton. Lil miss jammer's description of the kings play was far more scathing than anything LGK could produce and quite frequently unimpeachably true. I still can't figure out how the Kings outshot the Sabres. One day after people solve the mystery of the Bermuda triangle and why a USB drive needs to be inserted 3 times they may be able to sort the conundrum of the Kings play in Buffalo.

Like I said, it comes down to situational awareness. At that point of the game and against this team, you have to try and challenge. I hope by now Hiller understands that his team is not that good. He really had nothing to lose at that point of the game. The Kings were down 2-0 with nothing going on. If they give the Kings the goal, then you're down one with possibly some momentum and maybe you shook up the goalie. If they don't give them the goal, Buffalo goes on the PP. He should have at least tried, to change the game. Now if it is in the 1st period and you are tied, I get it, no challenge.

I will allow the point to empire - pretty sure they live in a time zone that is extremely incompatible with Kings game start times

This has got to be the most mediocre season I’ve ever watched. No long losing streaks. No long winning streaks. Just the most boring middle of the pack play every other night.

Hiller Hockey!
My biggest complaint about the Kings is how utterly boring they have become. I find myself fighting to stay awake during most games. There's just not a lot to get excited about with this team. I think I've seen more Ducks games than Kings games this season. And talk about a schizophrenic team...they go from a nine-game losing streak to a seven-game winning streak, back-to-back. But they have a ton of young elite talent and their rebuild is coming along fine, injuries aside.

In the meantime I sit here and hope and pray the Kings clean house and start their own rebuild...cuz this crappola cannot go on. The best thing that can happen is missing the playoffs and finally, mercifully, start making some changes.

I'll take boring hockey all day if it wins games. 2012, there was A LOT of boring hockey. However, they had the personnel to pull it off. That being said, no matter what Kings team shows up to Buffalo, they're not winning...

Sutter’s boring hockey had a purpose: grind your opponent down for 60 minutes and when they take a shift off give your stars just enough rope to let them win the game.

Hiller’s boring hockey is fundamentally different. He demands safe, non-physical, north-south, fast play. He wants big lane clogging players who move the puck off their stick quickly and limit offensive chances by the opponent.

This is why Fiala sticks out like a sore thumb many times. He’s an east-west player who is deliberate and intentional when he’s attacking with the puck on his stick. It’s extremely difficult for a player like this to succeed in Hiller’s system because his line mates aren’t allowed to think. They’re expected to skate fast and crash the net.

It’s so funny that it took Hiller almost 100 games to finally figure out that putting Kuzmenko next to Fiala was a good idea for a few weeks.

Anyway Hiller sucks and when the Kings win boring games it only makes him more stubborn and rigid.
