***LA Kings @ Calgary Flames GDT 1/11/25 7:00pm on FanDuel***

2nd period ends. Calgary eventually ties it after a sloppy Moverare turnover. Though Calgary didn't get that much SOGs, LA was suddenly playing loose and down to Calgary's level in that period. The Kings must get back to playing serious hockey in the next 20 minutes.

Kings writing the same story every year- no scoring on the power play. We know how that story ends.

I'm not sure if it's the lack of proper, assertive finishers on LA's PP or their special teams coach, while doing a good job managing LA's PK, is handling the coaching duties rather poorly on the PP. Either way, if this putrid PP approach by LA continues, they will once again bow in the first round of the playoffs should they make it. Winnipeg showed them yesterday how to effectively play on the PP; I guess LA didn't get the memo.

The PP is what it is. They have too many shooters from the same side, and that’s not going to change.

The D zone nonchalance is what galls me. The half-ass flicks and needless little lateral and reverse passes. Carry it, lob it, just GET IT OUT OF THE ZONE. If you have time and space, it should never take more than two seconds and it should never not happen.

The stick was right in his skates, pretty obvious call.
Unfortunately those borderline calls count as obvious, yes. It works in the Kings’ favor regularly as well, but this league emphasizes contact over impact too often IMO.
