***LA Kings @ Calgary Flames GDT 11/11/24 5:30pm on FanDuel***

That was a good game. Calgary is a good team. You can't win them all. On to Colorado, which will most likely be a tougher game.

Safe to say it was a bad night for the local teams. Both teams were sloppy and uninspired to start the game. To be honest, it looked like they had a hangover from a big weekend. Not sure whether to blame the coaches or the players, but neither team came out with much fire, and both deserved to lose. Sucks times two.

This team can suck you in and make you feel good for a couple of games and them lose to Vancouver and Calgary and make you go hmmm. Boys are still searching for consistency and are likely going to have to battle all season for that 3rd to 5th spot in the Pacific.

Very frustrating to say the least.

Just like the Rams, the one common denominator is inconsistency.

We have to remember this Kings team was not picked to make the playoffs. So being where they are right now, is a pleasant surprise. A month into the season and they are exceeding expectations. The normal December swoon has yet to take place so at this point, better than expected. They do need more than a day off between games. Once they get more than a one day rest, they should get rejuvenated.

Kings had a lot of chances in front of the net but did not get any bounces and could not put the biscuit in the basket.

I still like where they are at this point of the season. After the first 5 games of the season, if you told me they would be leading the division in November I would be tickled pink. :ele3:

Oh well, Bring on the Av's!

Again special shoutout to @JETS GARAGE for being the only poster to get both points for this one. Frustrating loss for multitudes of reasons. Not least of which was Calgary clearly had money on the board to win this for Wolf. Congrats to the former Jr. King and lets hope he doesn't become a nemesis. Beyond that this was clearly one of those evolution of identity games. Hiller referenced the Sammy fight in his presser regarding focusing the team, and they did close the shot gap after the fight (and truly played with some good pace and connectivity), however this still seems like a team that's trying to figure out their sandpaper. It's easy to see how much they miss a guy like Turc and what he's bringing every shift. Harder to tell what they're missing/getting in Jeannot out and Lee and Helenius in.

Gavrikov's turnover is downright bad, but I'm not sure if he expected Danault to be higher or if Danault expected him to turn that back to the corner. One things for sure, Danault's play lately has been more suspect than Gav's and this was a mistake of communication and execution. Don't get me wrong, Gavrikov had a simple play to the backhand to make, but chose the riskier forehand (lazier too). How much of that was hubris for his recent play vs tired play is probably what he needs to sort out. The second goal immediately following it's easy to blame Englund for getting beat as the lone defender back, but Spence was cheating down the boards hard and Huberdeau blew the zone knowing what to expect. How much Hiller wants to activate that follow up shift with the D may have been part of it, clearly he wanted to give Spence a chance late to make up for it with the deployments.

I also guessed 2 points for the Flames, on Page 1 of this game day thread:

I agree with all of this. Someone mentioned in the previous GDT that Gavi took a hard hit in the BJs game on Saturday, so maybe he's nursing an injury. These boys need the 2-day break that's coming up after tomorrow. The wacky game times have to be messing with their bodies as well, not being able to stay on a schedule

Good day jammer,I also guess on Part2:2,3 points, but forgot to put the Flames nobs down. on page 2 on the GDT post yesterday.Sorry about that GKG 🥅🏒

I had 2 for the Flames. 2nd page. I need all the points I can get!

I know quite a few of us were hoping that the Kings would draft Wolf, and were perplexed when they didn't, but wow he looks so much like Quick that it's uncanny. Really hope he can keep it up and has an excellent career. Maybe one day we will see him in a Kings uniform.

Gav has been playing way above expectations this season and doing a great job. That looked like a tired pass to me and he, and a few others on the team, look pretty worn down. I think for Gav it's not only getting used the minutes, but also playing regularly against the others teams best. Hats off to him though, even with the occasional lapse he is doing great.
