3-0-1 road trip. The Kings are now 3rd in the division. Their Points % is finally over .500.

Kempe is ranked 12th in the league in scoring.

And Forsberg played pretty well tonight.

Why am I not optimistic right now?

Because with the Jekyll Hyde Kings…. You never know which team you will get from period to period, game to game!

I don’t see the hype for Bedard. He’s got a pretty good shot, but he mostly goes unnoticed the majority of games I’ve watched with him involved.

At one point, I thought of him to be the next Pavelski type of player. Turns out he needs a true playmaking forward to fully utilize his skillset. Also, he doesn't park himself in front of the opposing team's net the way Pavelski and Holmstrom do.

I guess this is the NHL these days. The Kings played their worst 8 minutes of a first period this season... they looked awful and were lucky to be down only 1 goal. By the third the Hawks were lucky they weren't down by 4 goals.

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed 7 goals combined for the kings over 2 games, and/or within +/-1 of 22 SOG (Kings), and/or +/-1 pf 23 SOG (Hawks):

First of all glad they got the regulation win on the board so it can stop being a story. Very admirable considering it came less than 24 hours after the evening in Nashville. Special shoutout to whoever got the pentagram going and summoned the Frolovian demon to possess Fiala. I would also be remiss if I didn't pour one out for whoever sacrificed the live chicken so the boys could actually score on the 2-1. The big question now is if this team is going to sit on their laurels with this road trip and take the night off tomorrow in SJ.

Its been noted they are 3-0-1 thus far, 7 of the 10 points with 2 more available. I said before the roadie that what mattered was getting 5 of 6 of the last half of the trip. They can do that. For a little perspective in their first 10 games they are 4-3-3, 11 of 20 points available. They did that against 6 of 10 teams currently in a playoff position, 4 of which are teams over .700 in terms of points (there are only 7 teams playing that well in the league), and 8 of the 10 games were against teams over .500. They've also done this without players they would have liked to have had the whole time. So in aggregate this team hasn't been a tire fire. BTW kings opponents thus far are a total 47-28-17 for an even .600 pts percentage, thats tough sledding over 10 games.

The real question is that we all know this teams tendencies. One of those is to absolutely not take advantage of getting ahead of the 8 ball. They're also notorious for losing the last game of the roadie regardless of competition. A game against the last team in the league that doesn't have a regulation win (the sharks don't have one yet) shouldn't be a referendum if they lose. But it could be if they come out and play as if there aren't repercussions in April for taking off a night in October.

I definitely am. Dude ain't gonna change his ways.
Nope. Bedard said after the game the Kings play “boring hockey and sit back” so it’s hard to get through the neutral zone. When this team is sitting back on a 2-1 lead against the lowly Blackhawks in October, they are not going to play with any more urgency when it counts so long as Dollar Tree Lemaire is behind the bench. (Thank you to whoever called Talbot Dollar Tree. I forget who but that was great.)

Speaking of, remember when another poor team in MTL had a player call out the Kings under McClellan? He said “They play their little trap game. Teams will figure it out.” We know what happened in February.

I don’t see the hype for Bedard. He’s got a pretty good shot, but he mostly goes unnoticed the majority of games I’ve watched with him involved.
The NHL is looking for the next Crosby/McDavid. Every top pick will be anointed the heir apparent.
I don’t see the hype with Bedard. Still young of course and on a lousy team but I don’t see him as being the player of his generation.

Yes, and he always looked like a low end 1st line center to me. Not the wunderkind that had everyone’s panties in a twist. The Celebrini hype machine was far more subdued, but I think he’s going to outpace Bedard by quite a good margin career wise.
Bedard's problem is that he is currently too weak and small for the NHL. If he can put on some muscle he will really excel. As is, he is often caught cheating, like on faceoffs, because he simply can not match up physically.

Considering he is living on only his skill right not, he's pretty impressive. My guess is he puts on muscle over the next couple seasons and has a stellar career.

Totally agree on Celebrini - he is a level up from Bedard thus far.
