***LA Kings @ Colorado Avalanche GDT 12/29/22 6:00pm on BSW***

The win is huge but honestly even happier Arvy didn’t get hurt. Also relieved about Byfield and was very good to see a strong PK overall. And lastly Copley lets in a bad goal but still makes some big saves and great in the SO. Excellent night.

That was as filthy, dirty wion... the type of game good teams wm. Copley played maybe his worst game as a King and they pulled it out. This team is fun to watch, again.

Byfield with a couple nice plays out there, finding ways to make an impact.

He's going to take another 12-18 months to really break out but he's going to be one heck of a hockey player.

Great win! Still cannot believe we came all the way back but so happy to see it. Avs are a tough win any time.

Btw, does that extra goal in OT/SO count towards the GDT question? :p

haha, I'm thinking here of how o/t used to be kept playing until someone scored. I remember one night going into morming hours for someone to score/ Yrs ago, of course

I believe you're thinking about playoff hockey, not regular season.

4th in the West in Winning percentage 39 games into the season. Did anyone predict that during the preseason?

We've got a good team, folks. Really hope Blake is a buyer come trade deadline. He's got the pieces and this team is still in need of blueline help.

No idea what the think of the goaltending situation at this point but riding the hot hand is working. So lets keep it rolling.

Iafallo should be #1 star of this game. Possibly his best game ever?

Remember how many people were packing his bags recently on this board? I've always appreciated his blue collar contributions, when he scores big goals he's amazing.

And how often are we cursing him doing something boneheaded? Almost never. Teams need glue players like him and he was a great find by our scouting group.

I've always loved AI's game. Very smart player, good positionally, and is reliable. He, Lizzy, and Moore always get overlooked. I can see JAD developing into a player like them.

All Kings related things aside, how incredibly amazing is Makar? That guy just oozes the pure joy of hockey.

Found this on Twitter and it's not wrong:

I’ll admit to being part of that group. Reasons being his cap hit, Moore bringing a similar game, and fact that AI is good and would have value in a trade since you do have to give to get. Speaking of Moore, his raise plus whatever Vilardi and Anderson are going to get plus the need for a legit LD and trading AI - especially for an LD - still feels reasonable.

All that said, he’s really delivering big time right now after his play fell off a cliff last season and I’m open to new math. Plus the cap could up 3 or 4M. Here’s hoping as yes, if it’s doable to keep him you clearly keep him.

This calls to mind a key point in this game, in the 3rd, with the Kings still down a goal. Makar moved in for a shot from the slot, and I was thinking: Here comes another goal. Copley made the save. It kept the Kings in the game until they could pull it out.

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed the teams would combine for 1 goal in the first, 5 int the second or 2 goals in the third:

One goal first period (1 point) :

Rusty

5 goals second period (1 point):

2 goals third period (1 point):
Clif

beady eye
LeftyKing
Rogie-Vachon
pray4mojo

Dirtweazle
Bill Hicks

Good to see the boys rally and come back. Makar is something else and can absolutely dominate any team in this league. That said the three goals against in the second were concerning for the collective effort that everyone showed and how quickly they happened after what was the softest goal Copleys given up so far. I dont know if it was just Makar smelling blood in the water butbthat was shades of Buffalo for sure. In any case 2 points are 2 points and they dont come easy in Colorado.

He's the new Trevor Lewis!
