On a “workmanlike” first period and start to the game
Yeah, we were hard on the forecheck, we broke out pretty clean and we did the little things that we wanted to do. We were better defensively too.
On the play of his line tonight
We talked about wanting to spread it out more in the offensive zone and I thought we did that on the first two goals there. It was good to be able to do that.
On the importance of Lizotte’s bounceback goal in the second period
That was a massive goal. They made it a one-goal game and Lizzo, AI and Brownie are guys that just do it right. Happy to see them get rewarded.

On if he felt the Kings played to their style of hockey tonight
Yeah, I think for the most part we did. In my mind, there’s no such thing as a perfect game, but we eliminated a lot of the errors that we were making in games prior, we limited shots. I thought we gave them some momentum, though, on the power play again in the third, whether or not they were good calls, they were made. Something we can fix, but good to get back in the win column and it gives us a little bit of confidence, get us ready for tomorrow, we know what we’re up against.
On limiting Grade-A chances, especially at even strength
Their really good chances came on the power play, they have some gifted players that are still in their lineup, with that time and space, the ability to make plays, they’re going to get some good looks. I thought Quickie did a good job in those situations. 5-on-5, I thought we checked well, second goal got away on us a little bit, we missed an assignment. Like I said, we’re not going to be perfect, but we were much better than we were in the past.
On Lizotte’s goal and another strong bumper shift
Very big. Slowed the momentum down to come back right away, we didn’t even change lines, they stayed out and went right back after it. That was a really good sign for us.
On Dustin Brown in his return, and that line as a whole
Dustin, first of all, had a tremendous game. To come in, being injured as long as he was, practice as little as we’ve practiced, I think that’s a story we’ve told a million times. To come in and give us the type of game he did, that was huge. That line, before the game started tonight, I was asked what we wanted to see and we wanted to see four lines we can trust in many different situations. We had that tonight. I thought Brownie, Lizzo and Al brought that in the three-hole and Q’s line did a good job after.
