HORNS DOWN! Hilarious

What a game! Perry scored, was weird cheering him, but I can get used to it. Just sayn’ Juice needs to get paid. The longer it’s not done, the odds of him getting traded go up…. Nooooo! Pay the man already. For the love of the hockey Gods, can the Kings stop taking dumb ass penalties?!?! I’ll take Kings boring winning hockey over Kings losing hockey anyday. Go Kings Go!

So 8 games in & we have 0 wins in regulation. But we’re .500 so that’s not too bad. That was a huge win. Beating Dallas in Dallas is worth celebrating, even if they might have been outplayed. Kuemper was outstanding. And I absolutely loved that the 1st 2 goals were by Perry & Ceci. I know some of you had to force yourselves to cheer those goals. But they’re Kings now & their success is our success. Go Kings Go!

I thought that was a rather entertaining game but the OT thing every game is weird. I wish they'd swap to the 3-2-1 point system already to discourage the timid play when OT looks likely. Perry had a great game including diving to poke the puck out with 5 seconds left or whatever it was.

Post game his said that he and Q discussed it before the game. I guess it was Q's idea.

I had to look up why it was funny and it was funny.

PAY THE MAN

Literally what I yelled at the TV.

Nobody wants to admit it but Corey Perry is exactly the type of player this team has been missing and it’s obvious after 2 games.

His offensive play style is what Blake thought he was getting in Tanner Jeannot but Perry is so much better at it than Jeannot it’s almost laughable because the guy is 40 ****ing years old and he’s essentially worthless on 190 feet of the rink but for about 10 glorious feet he’s still a hockey god.

Yeppers. That's an important 10 feet.
I really hate...and mean I hate... to admit you're exactly right: He's exactly the player we needed right now...plants himself in front of the net, creating havoc, disrupting the defense, pissing off the goaltender and tipping in rebounds.
What is Strange World this is, rooting for Corey freakin Perry? It's like the Earth is spinning backwards.

As a former Austinite I wasn't as enamored with the upside down horns but its still good to hear that Juice and Q are planning on winning games. Lots of rope a dope early, the fact that only 5 shots made their way on goal (considering the very home town favoritism being shown by the local stats man) was a big saving grace. Kuemper was there for the other ones which is still a thing to get used to. The long time fans have been so inured to Quicks athleticism that seeing Kuemper be so far ahead of these plays is still a shock. That save on Rantanen in the slot seemed like an oh sh*t moment but not for Darcy. Always great to beat Dallas, lets not turn right around and sh*t the bed in Nashville. Its not a crucial 2 points there, but as the second game in a 3 in 4 and less than a 24 hour turnaround into Chicago its no time to be counting chicks.

I woke up and I still can’t help but feel underwhelmed even given a hard earned win.

Reason being is it was too hard-earned. Hiller is running this team into the ground in October. Kempe said they come in talking about how sore they are after each game and what a grind it is. It’s been 8 games.

It’s physically impossible to keep this type of grind going for 82 games. Hiller needs to figure out a way to make things easier for his skill players soon or the team is going to crash and burn well before the playoffs start.

I don’t like the chances of him figuring that out. There are too many players he doesn’t trust enough to play. Even Kuz gets extra bench time late in games.

My only hope is Holland has enough hockey sense left and no real attachment to Hiller to see what’s happening clearly. It runs directly counter to what he said this team would be. And if Hiller doesn’t think Clarke and Turcotte should play meaningful minutes, Holland should think otherwise.

It’s basically ā€suicidalā€ to play Turcotte 7-9 minutes game after game, especially when Kopitar is out. There is no way Turcotte develops correctly being mishandled like this and it wears out the other centers. It’s so effin stupid…

Seems apparent to me that Hiller is coaching like he’s already on the hot seat. He’s taking no risks and has zero interest in expanding his circle of trust.

I’ve yet to see anything from Hiller that makes him stand out from his coaching peers. In fact he’s repeatedly shown that he’s tactically below average.
