***LA Kings @ Detroit Red Wings GDT 1/27/25 4:00pm on FanDuel & NHLN***

This recent dismal play has be wondering, "Will there ever be a rainbow?" 😩

Tough game to watch. The outcome was disappointing and the fan duel app kept sputtering on me so there were 2 forces combining to give me a headache. 1 point in 2 games and the rest of the road trip doesn't get any easier. On to Wednesday's game.

Just got to watch the last few minutes of replay, too sad and disappointing, this is classic Kings not being able to score and not being able to defend. Kings stunk this one up good, on to Wednesday for more "fun" :(

Agreed. It was tough. lots of missed net shots, loss of puck control for no apparent reason and my Sportsnet+ app sputtered at the end too. Came back just in time to see DeadWings score the empty netter.

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed kings goalies would be credited with 23 saves and/or that the red wings goalies would be credited with 24:

For those of you looking at the game recap and seeing the Kings credited with 25 SOG and assuming that means 23 saves for the Wings tendies, a funny footnote is in store. Byfields goal was credited as an Own Goal, meaning that while the goal is allowed to stand and is charged to Talbot, there is no official shot recorded on that goal. Byfields shooting percentage will have a little boost to it if you are to calculate it similarly. That neat little tidbit is about all I'm taking from this game because while the own goal was amusing and it was nice to see Fiala contribute at 5v5, the rest of the game was as if they'd already won.

And to do it against the former coach! Errrr!

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Kopi hit a wall early this month and the team’s wheels have fallen off.
Kopitar has looked bad for a while now. I have watched him regularly muff making passes, receiving passes and come up short playing defense. In other words, since Christmas he has looked OLD.

Turned it off because the "Max Headroom" like broadcast. Same crappy stream under a new name.

The 4 Nations tournament will be a nice break for him and most of the others.

As for the game, typical Jan slump for the Kongs. Always expect them to regress, just a matter of if it continues or they figure it out over these next 3 games or the return home.

Completely forgot about the game, from the commentary I guess most of the Kings did also. We were bizzie rejoicing over the much needed, first rainfall since Apr24 here in N San Diego county.

A check of the last 10 shows VGK actually worse than the Kings, with the Flames and Nucks closing in. Hoping Kopitar and the Kings can recharge during the 4 nation gig.

Byfield taking that dumb penalty in the Detroit man advantage earlier in the second period is what eventually turned the tide for Detroit. Had he not committed that one, the Kings would have had more of a chance to keep up with the Wings.
Aside from that, look who’s caught reacting late and reaching with his stick in a weak attempt to hook the streaking Detroit player just before scoring their goal. On both the 1st and 3rd goals, if memory serves.

The Dad's trip is fun, however for the players it disrupts your routine, your sleep habits, your rest and everything else. When you've been on the road as much as the Kings have, I believe it would have been better if it was on an earlier road trip.

I thought I was the only one with a choppy online telecast. Not only that but I couldn’t watch while I was at work because the replay wasn’t on the app. I had to wait until I got home at 1 am to watch on my laptop.

I can’t say everything about how they played was horrible. They just made uncharacteristic mistakes. Honestly I think they’re fatigued & have hit a wall. They’ve played too many road games. I know people will say they have a bunch of home games left. But it doesn’t help if they’re already worn out. It looks like it’s a good thing that everyone except Kempe is going to be off during the 4 Nations tournament. Although if Doughty got invited that would be good for him. But anyway the Kings have to think about how they schedule their games. And not have any more arena renovations or whatever they do that keeps them on the road for so long at the 1st half of the season.

The Kings will be fine. All the teams closing in below have played more games. And as badly as we think the Kings played, they didn't play that poorly. It was just a lot of bad bounces and bad luck. They deserved 2 points against Columbus. Every team has a slump. The Kings have 1 win in 5 games, so that means we'll probably go down to Florida and take 4 points in 2 games.
The 4FNFO break is much needed and hopefully the Kings can continue with their home cooking for the rest of the year.
