GDT ***LA Kings @ Edmonton Oilers GDT 1/10/26 7:00pm on FanDuel***

Also, Byfield is an absolute f***ing pu$$y. The way McDavid manhandled him on several occasions tonight is just sad. The kid needs to be put on an insane bulk program this offseason. I want 15-20lbs of muscle added to that frame. It’s gross watching him get out battled along the boards, and tossed aside like a 12 year old girl in open ice foot races to a loose puck.

Lee and Helenius, on the other hand, looked like physical menaces tonight that Edmonton did not seem to want any part of. I just need them to both crank up the nastiness about 15%.

I'm not sure if I should take credit, however, I did watch my first shoot out this season tonight. What a game, Kings might just be the best team in hockey.
If you say so, but I am also ready to take credit because this was the first shootout of the season I did NOT watch.. my DVR recording cut off at the every end of OT. I assumed the extra point going to Edmonton was a foregone conclusion until I checked the NHL app to see which Oilers did us in..

My lean is that Byfield played a smart game - it's pretty obvious that if you touch McDavid you will get a penalty while McDavid is allowed to grab sticks, players and pretty much anything else he wants.

Let's also not talk about the 4 cross-checks to the back and 3 to the chest Clarke took on one play alone. I forget who the Edmonton player was (may have been Kapanen) but Clarke just gave him a look like "wtf" as he continually took hits to the chest.

This makes me laugh. It was 1993 game 7 Kings/Leafs and I wouldn't get to watch it because of an event I couldn't get out of (almost 100 miles away) so I programmed my primitive VCR and planned it out. I set the sound to inaudible on the TV and decided when I got home I would turn the tv on (the cassette would have long run out) and take a quick peak to see if they were still playing and if so turn it up and watch the finish probably a second OT. I knew not to listen to the radio on the way home nor did I think anyone would bring up the game at the event (very few if any hockey fans).

Bored with whistling in the wind on the way home I remembered there was an automated station that played mediocre completely unknown jazzy type crap (the Wave?) so I thought I'd take a chance and turned it on. One guess at what song was playing...from Queen...

Did not expect to see that result especially after the wild comeback from the bears earlier. Not sure how this team beats the oil but loses to the peg, but here we are.

Queen 1977:We are the Champions
That was a great 7 game series vs Toronto, wit h the Kings winning game 7 to advance to the SCF’s vs Montreal.

According to every Oiler fan online - The refs screwed us.
McJesus scored in overtime (completely ignoring him literally running into the goalie before the puck went in)

Friggin' crybabies.
That’s pretty much the norm. I imagine Oilers’ fans read from or copy+paste from the same script after any loss at this point.

Rewatch the game. Byfield held him to 1 point, which he got on the 2 man advantage when Byfield was in the box.

If he adds bulk, then he can’t hang with his speed.

Yes, I know this completely contradicts my view of played and size, but somebody has to try and keep him in check.

It’s mental more than anything, imo. QB doesn’t seem to have that fire, passion or drive for either scoring or taking the body. A player doesn’t have to be the biggest to not get pushed around or stand up for themself, obviously. It’s all a mindset.

He needs to watch Laffy more and copy what he does. Laf is the closest to a Deadmarsh or Richards we’ve had since those guys. 14 is quickly becoming my favorite player to watch.

To be fair, that is the reaction of every fanbase in every sport on the planet . . . who knows, maybe off-planet as well. 👽

Handzus…

Insanity: Doughty, possibly the slowest guy in the NHL, on a 3x3 assigned to McDavid. Kings very lucky not to lose yet another OT.
