***LA Kings @ Florida Panthers GDT 1/29/25 4:00pm on FanDuel***

It must be repeated - ICE24 will easily win the current Road Trip contest. 0-5 will rule.
Kings will get steamrolled by Tampa like they always do, but then DD is so pissed he gives a rousing postgame asschewing and they rally to pull out a win against the Canes.

And the fact they hold the rights to air Dodgers games while the cable-free streaming apps somehow don't is a major reason why I dislike that company.

Actually, as I just found out, we people can watch Dodgers games outside of Spectrum by subscribing to either DirecTV Stream, Fubo, Vidgo, or Sling. Sling is usually the cheapest option of the four streaming apps.

Now, as far as the Kings are concerned, since it's a B2B, Rittich better hope he doesn't get leaky in net against the Bolts tomorrow.

If there’s such a thing as getting goalied, is there also such a thing as getting reffed? Because there were some BS calls. It wasn’t 100% the refs though. They still need to score. I feel bad for Laf. He’s had 2 goals called back this trip. But the positive of that is he’s putting goals in the net. They just need to start counting. Speaking of positives, Drew looked great out there. He played a lot of minutes in all situations. Tampa’s going to be a big test tomorrow. But I think he’ll do fine.

Kings were out matched in every facet of the game tonight and thanks to Kuemper it wasn't another blow out. Although, 3-0 is just as painful. In today's NHL I guess 3-0 could be considered a blow out.
Last few games the Kings look like a pre-season team. No gel. Passes are off, puck control is off, they look slow. They undoubtedly have a horrible road schedule and there's lots to be concerned about back home ...
but, they're going to have to pull themselves out of this funk. If they don't, Blake should be a seller at the trade deadline.

To make things worse (for me) my Sportsnet app froze during the last minute and my TheScore app pinged for a goal ... I was excited that maybe the Kings got it to 2-1. Only for the broadcast to come back and show 3-0. 😡

Guess I should try to see more potential value in Burroughs... would rather they held onto Englund.

I just wish they could have kept Helenius on the ice. Maybe they will shop Akil as well.
I don’t like any game without Helenius in the lineup right now. Certainly not in an attempt to offload a player they’re barely using anyways.

I could be mistaken. Maybe there’s a late pick in there for Burroughs as he at least plays RD. Can’t see anyone giving up anything for Englund.

Mental toughness is not a quality that is found in abundance amongst this bunch of players. The epic collapse last year showed exactly how fragile they are. Seems this year’s group shares the same lack of resolve. I am starting to lean toward selling at the deadline. I don’t see this group having any success in the playoffs as currently assembled… if they’re fortunate enough to get that far.

I feel like there’s a lot of items that are noteworthy, but I’m going to try and stick to a distilled bullet point list.

-The reffing was inequitable for this one.

-I thought edmundson and Jeannot were supposed to be tough, no nonsense type players? Joel had several opportunities to make an example of Matthew Tkachuk, but he and Tanner left our leading goal scorer to be the sole guy sticking his beak in there. Unacceptable.

Trevor Lewis, while I appreciate him from a nostalgic standpoint, should never play another game for the Los Angeles Kings. The recalled goal was not his fault, but he has no business being on the ice any more, especially playing for a team that is struggling to score goals. His limited playing time cannot be the reason the Kings remain sound defensively.

On that note, given that our defense has been so sound without Drew in the lineup, I think it’s time that Coach Hiller starts playing some mental games with this crew. My preference would be for him to call out under achieving forwards who are higher up the lineup, like Moore, Fiala, and Byfield, and let them watch a game or two from the press box, while inserting Doughty and Clarke in their forward roles. Not because I think Drew or Brandt would necessarily be more effective, but simply as a way to shame/motivate these guys whose aren’t producing. Of course we know that would never happen, and it would be guys like Lewis, Halenius, or Jeannot that sit, before any of the aforementioned players. Simply because Clark was scratched, and they needed to work Drew back into the lineup anyways.. so why not? The defense has been fine even through this rough patch, so go with 11-7 or 10-8(if that’s even allowed), and do as suggested above. Just send the message coach, and send it firmly so we can be done with this in a timely manner.

So much for bullet points…
