***LA Kings @ San Jose Sharks GDT 10/29/24 7:00pm on ESPN***

I am not a fan of "Red Light" Rittich. We need a change in net as well. He was out of position for the shots that scored.

Kuemper has been decent but we have the worst tandem in the NHL, if not, surely bottom 3. Rittich is garbage. I'd like to see what Portillo can offer. He's earned it.

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed the D would be credited with 5 points per (right now) on NHL.com

A game played with arrogance and befitting results. Fiala is still deserving of his situation, the team deserves the loss, us fans? We reserve the right to voice our opinion. All in hopes the players have some pride.

These stats say it all. Kings are lucky to have some of these young kids playing. Turc has been great and Laf is leading the team in goals and +/-. Also, Joel freaking Edmundson has more points than QB, Oaks and Danault. What the heck?????

This Organeyezation is a mess. Thanks Luc, Blake and Marc. Hell of job guys.

I also picked 5

This team is not good. Their winning record is masking the fact that they have been blown out by good teams and barely beat the bad teams (or took an L like last night).

It truly is time for Blake to go whether it be this season or before the start of next season. The fanbase was promised a serious contender and the Kings aren't remotely close. The rebuild

The PLD and Fiala trades till haunt us. Picking up Fiala and putting him on a mid team is a lost cause and I would have rather built around Faber and Clarke as our future D corps. PLD is the well documented mess but gotta believe we would have been better off with Gabe and Alex on offense than guys like Jeannot or Lewis. Meanwhile, there isn't a ton of talent in the pipeline outside of the goalie pool and Greentree.

I'm assuming this team, based on current play, will be well out of the playoff race towards the end of the year if not earlier. Time to blow it up and start completely from scratch with some new blood and new leadership at the helm. I could see Gavi, Phil and Fiala being dealt for draft picks and I would not be surprised if Dewey asks out as I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to be around for another rebuild.

I cut my ticket purchases down to 16 games from 31 last year. I have a feeling we'll start seeing sparser crowds at Crypto before too long. Maybe then ownership will take notice.

The lesson we learned is that he's just about the only player on the team with any creative offensive talent. With him, the offense is barely mediocre. Without him it's total garbage.
Which will make him very tradeable at the end of the season so we can get a draft pick as part of the new rebuild.

Hoven never spread rumors saying Faber wanted out and has said emphatically on KOTP that there was no evidence Faber wasn’t going to sign with the Kings.

Each passing year a college player doesn’t sign the closer he gets to being a UFA. It’s pretty simple math. Blake hedged his bets and pulled in a ppg player in his prime.
Who unfortunately has not been surrounded by enough talent to make a difference overall. Would have rather figured out how to sign Faber and built a new team around him and Clarke.

season 1 friends GIF

There was a man and woman came to my work last summer. We get a lot tourist here. They said they were from Minnesota. I asked them if they were Wild fans. They said yes, our nephew plays for the Wild. I asked who and they showed me a picture. Faber is their nephew. They told me he was shocked when he was traded. He thought he was going to play in LA.
Do you work a part time gig at Taco Bell, by chance..?

That whole first line sucked. Kopi has been looking his age (or older). And QB has just been lost out there. Dude has been playing pond hockey.
Yep. I find it so very LGK that Fiala gets whipped mercilessly (obviously he deserves a good portion of it) but plenty of other players who are grossly underachieving get a pass.
Byfield has been invisible almost all season long. Danault looks more like a shutdown center than a really good 2C. Moore has been bad and is making the 30-goal season look like a fluke. Trevor Lewis looks like a welfare case where the team is just playing him to get him to 1000 games.
Kopi and Kempe had a bad game but it is one bad game over a generally good season.

Clarke, Turcotte, Thomas and Lee all playing their rookie seasons with Laf and Spence playing their sophomore seasons. Byfield looking (though failed through 10) to have a breakout year. Bridge goalies and bridge players in Edmundson, Lewis, and Jeanott. This roster already is a rebuilding team this season.

I doubt management would say that...at least publicly. They're still putting on the "we're a playoff team" face

QB looks like the same guy I have been watching since his draft year, minus the small outburst last season where it looked like he briefly figured out how to play hockey. He looked similarly lost when was playing for Canada in the WJC’s, just as he did during his first few seasons as a King. I’d much rather be eating crow, than watching our 2nd overall pick continue to fumble through the first 20% of his hockey career.

Perhaps it’s time for the forces of light and darkness to once again make wager on the fate of our hapless, young, would-be hero. Only then will the true power of the universe reveal itself, and make spectacle for you all to marvel upon. Paging Birdman to the front desk..

Interestingly, Doughty appears to be key reason why we are in this mess and he was allegedly not on board with a full rebuild when proposed several seasons ago - leading instead to a partial rebuild.

I really hope you are right about attendance being down. This is the first season in the last 10+ in which I did not attend the home opener, nor a game in October. I'm just not super excited to see them play this season, not due to lack of talent but rather lack of a professional looking system. They really look like a bunch of pick up players out there so far this season (with the exception of a few games).

We knew PLD was a bad move, we knew HIller was not the answer, we knew Blake and Luc's time should have been up - yet here we sit. It's just a lazy approach across the board and not something worth our $$$ to see in person at the present moment.

Also making Fiala the scapegoat is just nonsense to me. He, several others players, the coaching staffing, th GM and the Kings' President all need to step up in a big way. Thank goodness for Clarke, Laf and Turcotte who have all been rays of hope so far this season (hopefully with Thomas emerging as one also going forward, if given the chance).

Nobody really had Faber as a surefire top 4 material at that time. He was a good stay-at-home-ish prospect that was a bit of an ill-fit with the puck moving RD philosophy this team was and still is into.

They won’t say it publicly but walking back from a failed big move in PLD and bringing in 3 character free agents while giving actual minutes to a lot of kids is definitely a course correct. They have some promising prospects not yet on the team. I think a retool of sorts is what we’re seeing followed by a bigger push again in a couple seasons.

As for playoffs, they’re as close to being a WC team as SEA or StL so front management isn’t wrong for their purposes.
