I really really hope the Kings play well tonight, and a win would be nice. I do not like the Canucks. I have nothing against Vancouver, and I've never been up there. But my aunt used to go wine shopping there and the photos she brought back were spectacular. It looks like a very nice city. But over the years I always seem to go to Vancouver games more than any other team. And the Canucks fans travel well.

And they got in my face pretty good for Game four of the first round of the 2012 playoffs. That's the game where Dustin Brown had a penalty shot in the third period and was stoned by Schneider. And the dagger was the Sedin Bros, of course, with a backdoor play they've probably practiced every day of their lives. Or at least after they learned to skate.

And some half-blind drunk Canucks fan turned around and screamed in my face when Sedin #1a scored and spit beer all over me. And they were pretty boisterous leaving the arena.

Usually I see the Kings win in person on my birthday...Frenzy on Fig...but the Sedin's ended that streak. I really thought we were going to sweep that night. I was already planning a celebration (never a good idea), and on the way out someone yelled at my wife "No brooms for you tonight, bitch!" That was a long walk back to the parking lot that night.

But all's well that ends well.

Go Kings Go!

And by the way, what the hell is a Canuck? Google says is a nickname for a Canadien. That leaves little doubt the origin of that nickname started when the Vancouverites (Vancouverese?) were so drunk they couldn't pronounce 'Canadien' and it came out 'Canuck'.

"Say, what nationality are you buddy?"
"Caaa-nuuuck"

The Canucks may boast the best record in the Pacific Division for now this season but they're not the 2008-12 era Canucks when they were an offensive powerhouse with the Sedin twins and company and captured the President's Trophy twice in two consecutive years in 11-12. Still, this is the toughest test the Kings will face in this trip and a win over Vancouver will definitely boost morale. That said, Go Kings Go!

And seconds after the start of the 1st, the Kings are on the PP thanks to a Vancouver tripping penalty. Get this one early, LA. Not a goal against you.

Just turned oin the TV. Any news from the team about Anderson and/or Kempe injury status?

Love the Disco Skate unis!

Those are throwback jerseys that harken back to the late 80s/90s Canucks which were a moderate upgrade to the even uglier "Flying V" unis from the early 80s. Still, those throwbacks are eye-searing.

On other news, LA wastes a PP opportunity as usual.

We're really screwed now. Within 4 minutes, they killed a early power play, had a breakaway attempt, and started with the fierce of a rabid coyote. 😵 :verydrunk: Terrifying.

I hate the Disco Skate back in the day, although they were immensely better than the horrid Flying V. But now they bring back good memories for me, and I like the nostalgia of them. I even have one somewhere in my garage. Need to find it this summer. (It's a Trevor Linden - someone gave it to us a zillion years ago)

A Kings penalty and a Vancouver PP. But that was a clear dive by that Vancouver player. How the refs not see that is just infuriating.

That was a weak ass penalty. Refs should be able to watch a replay of that and take away that penalty and give a dive to the other

Byfield would have been justified taking an extra two with a sucker punch after that whistle. If the refs aren’t going to enforce that, the players need to.
