GDT ***LA Kings @ Vancouver Canucks GDT 2/29/24 7:00pm on BSW***

I know Vancouver is playing a soft zone but look at how much room they give Byfield when he has the puck. They go into a shell. That’s respect and a bit of fear.
 
That pressure was incredible. Fiala just too hot on his skates - could have gotten one more push in on a dead tired unit.
 
loving the Doughty/Clarke pair. You can tell Drew trusts Clarke and doesn't feel like he has to "babysit" him. Much better that Drew/Gavy, which for some reason doesn't work.

Loving our forecheck tonight, too. I know the Nucks are down a few players, but they seem far less agressive than the Flames or VGK.
 
I had no idea Josi was taken Doughty’s draft year - I thought he was younger. Either way, what an incredible year for dmen.

Nashville was a Dman factory in the mid 2000s. And don’t forget about 2x Cup winner Slava Voynov. We took him 32nd overall in 2008.
 
2nd period is over. The Kings continue to assert their dominance over Vancouver, with Vancouver still not having anything to show for it in the scoresheet while LA extends their lead to two goals. The next 20 minutes are going to be very important as LA has to at least get an insurance goal or two to put this game out of Vancouver's reach.
 
Dear Quinton Byfield, I apologize for every negative thing I ever said about you and for thinking you weren't going to work out. You no longer skate like a baby giraffe, and you are agressive as heck in the corners now. Thank you for working hard to improve your skating, and for being meaner now. Please stay a King for a long, long time.
