GDT ***LA Kings @ Vancouver Canucks GDT 2/29/24 7:00pm on BSW***

Dear Quinton Byfirled, I apologize for every negative thing I ever said about you and for thinking you weren't going to work out. You no longer skate like a baby giraffe, and you are agressive as heck in the corners now. Thank you for working hard to improve your skating, and for being meaner now. Please stay a King for a long, long time.

Sincerely, Nyssa42

I was never part of the "anti-Byfield" crowd when the Kings picked him 2nd overall in the 2020 Entry Draft as I never doubted his skills, vision, and techniques and showed patience for him even during the first three years. Well, that patience is paying off and he's blooming good this season. Eventually, he's going to become a force to be reckoned with the next few seasons. I'd still take him over that very talented but wirey German forward who loves to dive like most Euro players do.

Ok, second period over. So far so good for the Kings with the 2 goal lead…

I don’t like that at all. For the love of god and all that is holy, at least one more score Kings!

I got his jersey when he was drafted. I’m so happy for him this season!

You’ll be saying the same thing about PLD next season!

I’m not going to say they’ll have the same career, but both are big guys (almost the same size), both were high picks. Just look at Byfield’s numbers through this point in his career (155 games or so) vs. Joe Thornton through the same number of games. Byfield has actually better production, with the caveat that he’s a bit older through those games because of injury and illness.

I have not done a scientific analysis on this, but it seems to me that the Kings play better in the road arenas where the benches are NOT in the same alignment as they would be at home for them. Maybe that little extra focus that they need in those games is good for them....not the same old, same old.
I might go back and look at the bench alignments for those first 16 road games.
