Agreed, probably the blow up we can hope for (if it comes to that) is within the Organization's leadership and coaching.Man I shouldn’t do this at work ha. Meant 4.2M a year. Since edited. Proper value there.
Was always a good chance Kings wouldn’t make the playoffs this year, and of course they still might. I actually see the goal of this year as revisiting the rebuild. Pipeline is likely better than most give it credit for. Also no ownership group is going to sign off on another full scale rebuild after just green-lighting one like 5 years prior. Larger conversation there but blow it up aint gonna happen here.
It’s still very early but if we were ever going to see ownership clean house the start to a season would need to look a lot like what we’ve seen so far.
I was ready for a house cleaning last off-season. I didn’t hate the summer except for the Edmunson signing but if things don’t turn around by Thanksgiving I’m perfectly fine with cleaning out Blake and Luc, handing the GM keys to Yannetti and bringing in a new President.
I watched a little bit of the game. I found it concerning that they stayed away from the crease/slot area, but could not win the board battles. This is some team you got here Luc/Rob/Marc. Heck of a job guys.I’m joining the wagon on this post too because it’s also what bothers me. I came into the season looking for a culture recalibration, increased physicality, and ample playing time for the kids. I’m pleased enough with the last point but where is the “most physical training camp” Mikey had ever seen now?
Not getting in those “uncomfortable” areas in front of the net playing the Ducks was an early tell apparently. If they don’t do it then no wonder they couldn’t penetrate the big and elite Vegas d squad.
I don’t personally assess too much until games 10-20. I think at game 20 teams have told you who they are league wide. Defensive leaks and sloppy play right now don’t bother me. But not being “hard to play against” does. It’s goal number 1 this year.
I was in the minority, but I I was ready to kick off the process at the deadline. It’s still very early but if we were ever going to see ownership clean house the start to a season would need to look a lot like what we’ve seen so far.

this is far too rational of a post to be allowed on LGK!!Losing best dman, 7 game roady to start season, slow team, with marginal goaltending. Would stress any system. Too early to throw in the towel. They were 2 OTs from a 5-2 start. Lets see how they do on home ice.
I did not throw in my towel after last night. I could not, I had already thrown it in back in July.Losing best dman, 7 game roady to start season, slow team, with marginal goaltending. Agreed on everything. As for Fiala, I’m unsure what game you’re wanting to see. He is what he is, it’s all I’ve ever seen from him. The larger question, going back to Blake, is what in Fiala’s game did management think suited the Kings style of play.
The Kings at that point didn't have any particular "style". The game got faster and the Kings lacked speed, high end skill and scoring, so the trade made total sense at the time. Now they realized they need toughness and size and suddenly Fiala seemingly isn't as much of a "key piece" of the puzzle anymore. Though IMO he will find his form again and his presence especially on the PP will be very beneficial to this team still.
I insist that it was both a good trade and an even better contract extension. The contract ends when he's 33, by the time he'll be 30/31 it will be a bargain for a top 6 winger with the increasing cap. No NTC/NMC clauses either. The Kings can trade him to whoever they want once Kopi and DD hang them up if no heir apparent (QB, BC) rise up to the occasion, and they will get at least what they gave up to trade (but likely more due to favorable term and cap hit) for him unless his career derails significantly.
Fiala is the least of Kings' problems IMO. If the team's downward trajectory continues, upper management and FO need to be revamped completely for a fresh approach and that's all there is to it. Replacing only Blake won't do enough.
If the FO stays the same and Kings stink it up and are out of the PO picture I at least hope Rob can cash in on a few players nearing the deadline - definitely Gavrikov and Jeannot, possibly Danault if Turcotte continues with his stellar play and Kuemper to a team in dire need. They can retain quite a lot of salary, too, since they for sure won't be looking to compete in the future couple of years if they really stink it up this season.
I mean, you should always want the team to succeed but I get your point. Last year we bought tix for 30 or so games. As of right now, I only have tix for 16 games. I don't foresee buying more if this is the quality we will get all season. I'd rather sit and sulk on my couch for freeIs it bad for me to really hope they stink it up? LOL
