WOW! Your story is amazing and a testament to what the human body can block out when faced with near death experiences. Hope you're on the mend!2, 4 or 6
Thanks Susan!
So, I won't be going to many games for a while. I ended up in the hospital...got hurt worse than I originally thought falling off that cliff Saturday:
Skull fracture
Torn Supraspinatus (rotator cufff)
Hairline fractures in right hand and left foot
I contacted the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team, and team leader Heather got back to me about trying to find these kids that saved my life. That's still the bravest thing I've ever seen. Forming that human chain down the side of the mountain was insane. It was at least an 80 degree incline through burnt Yuccas, Big Berry Manzanitas and and loose rocks. And the guy that pulled me up was about 6'7". If he was only 6'3", I don't think he could have reached me.
I am beyond lucky.
I've already had bad dreams about falling. All I remember about the accident was falling backwards. It seemed like I was airborne for an eternity. I assumed I was dead. And while I was falling I had this odd sort of peaceful feeing, almost as if I was resigned to my fate and was even enjoying the feeling of flying.
It was a surreal afternoon.
The doctor was shocked I got down the hill on my own power and drove all the way back home. She said, "I don't think I've ever heard af anyone being that severly injured and driving." I just laughed. After I broke my neck at Staples Center, I drove for two hours...in traffic...with three fractured vertebrae in my neck.
Before I left she said I had the highest pain threshold of any patient she has even treated. I just laughed and said, "No brain, no pain!"
