Other than the bad deflection off Anderson's stick that led to TB's goal in the 1st period, Kuemper was so solid in net tonight. Had he been dragged down by the relatively poor performance of his team in the previous two periods, then TB would've walked away with a win.

That said, Kings still had a bend-don’t-break quality tonight, whereas game 1 was just a bad game. Mikey was the bright spot of the dmen tonight. Moverare was solid too.

The Kings get paid back for the Washington game, in which the better team does not win the game. Without Darcy playing as well as he did, TB wins this game 4-1.

Watching TB deny us the offensive blue line for 2 1/2 periods had me convinced this was going to be a loss. Turcotte willed them to that victory in one scrappy play while everything else was just barely holding all night. Thank god we have one shooter that can finish with Juice. Anyone else on that play and this would have been OT.

They (TB) were certainly very, very good at denying that blue line. I said to my friend, "How in the heck do they have 12 guys standing up at the blue line on every play?!?" They're missing a few (many) pieces from their Cup runs, but Cooper's game-plan still works very, very well. And their giant D-men are very effective in their own zone. They are just a few players away from another deep run. Or they will fall apart a'la the 2015-19 Kings and need a few years to regroup - but that salary cap increase could be a big boon to this Tampa team to get a superstar veteran to help out Kucherov because he seems to be doing a lot of work on his own now, with Point seeming to be the only other really effective forward when the structure breaks down on offense. (which is how we won this game - we are very good at controlling 1-line teams)

Big congrats to Lewis for his 1000th game and it was great to see all the teammates that came back for it. Gritty gutty win just like Tlew plays. Mikey making it a 2 goal night was a surprise but that Turcotte play was truly a workman's play. Not sure when it's safe to believe in this team but they certainly keep me watching.
