***LA Kings @ Winnipeg Jets GDT 4/2/22 4:00pm on BSW***

the Jets are too good of a team to not be in the playoffs. Really wish the Stars would implode in April. Or even the Preds. I feel like the Jets are stronger than the Preds. (haven't seen a lot of any of these 3 teams this season, so I'm only going on our games against them)

The Winnipeg fan base deserves to have playoff games every year! I'm with you on the Stars and Preds imploding.

Don’t root for Canadian teams in general but the Winnipeg fan base was deprived from a team unfairly, I agree they deserve some playoff hockey. Have a strong fan base

Serious question: Can Durzi be coached out of letting those guys skate around him to score goals? I know Ehlers is really fast, and I'm not talking about this specific goal per se, but the whole angles / positioning thing.

Durzi has so so many surprising positives, if he had a little more smash to his game he'd be a monster. Weren't we having these conversations about Voynov in the early days?

No. He has awful instincts in the defensive zone. His gap control is terrible. His defensive zone coverage is terrible. He can be taught to be better, but he'll never be good. Just like offensive awareness - you either have it or you don't. Durzi is the anti-Doughty. Doughty is not some amazing physical specimen, but when he's on his game, every instinct he has in the defensive zone is the right one. He's a hockey savant. Durzi is the exact opposite. Every instinct Durzi has is the wrong one. I don't think he'll be around very much longer.

The broadcast is cringy. We're all Kings fans but Faust should try to be somewhat objective. There was another play with about 5 minutes to go where he had a 'icing isn't called for some reason' call. The Kings need Sutter to remind the announcers to stop whining about the refs.

Not only Faust, Fox has become a huge annoyance for me. Talking too much during the game and being a too much of a ?fan? first. Yuck!

Maybe not the best comparison, but this makes me think of Lombardi's interview where he excoriated Jack Johnson's defensive development at Michigan. How ultimately none of the flash was worth it if you can't identify the right guy to cover defensively.

I just think the minutes they're giving Durzi warrant hashing this conversation out into the most scrutinized details because he's been such a bright spot in this utterly surprising season.

I really hope/wish we can drill positioning and defensive IQ into the guy through video replay a la A Clockwork Orange, because the guy is so damn smooth and smart offensively.

My worry is he keeps making the same terrible reads and getting burned the same way ad naseum. I dread he might only become a one trick pony--a more offensively gifted Joe Corvo.

This Kings team is so amazing. With everything this team has gone through to get 5 of 6 points on this road trip against these teams shows how much character these guys have.

You, are literally, out of your mind.

Great effort to come out in a 3 in 4 with 2 OT games and just take it to the Jets. Getting up 3-1 was well rewarded but the penalties did also cost them. Lets hope they didn't burn all their luck though since I can't remember a game where they were awarded three goals on goals surviving Skate review, GI review (or non challenge) and getting the bonus of an own goal from the other side. The puckluck was certainly where they needed it for this one, 5/6 on the road and they came to play. Lets hope they don't have that return home let down that's plagued this team in the past.

He could be good, he can't be great is more likely. He needs to play way more conservatively in the defensive zone, in order to make up for poor instincts. He takes too many chances and guesses for a guy who is not good at predicting. Playing with Doughty (agreed he is the ultimate positive example) he can be good and not a liability. Can he ever be as good as DD? Good lord, no.

Durzi looks like a young Jack Johnson in his own zone right now. It's not good. Yes he will get better with experience and age but the question is how much better. The upside is he has incredible offensive instincts and very good puck skills.

The good news is his possession metrics aren't deal breaking. They're just ok. I like Durzi but he's still got a lot of stuff to clean up before he's reliable everyday player. Everyone should be watching Spence. That kid might actually be ready to take the torch from Doughty within a year or two.

I was going to say Spence is definitely being overlooked because Durzi is a little flashier/bigger personality. Hope they both continue to improve, but if I had to put money on only one, it's Spence.

Durzi does a lot of gambling a la jack but he seems to not have the same level of skill for the worst possible outcome. Jack was amazing at triggering the worst possible outcome. Durzi seems to have escaped that talent.

The thing is...Durzi will be gone after the season. Clarke is coming and Spence is better in some ways, so there isn't going to be a spot for him. I fully expect him to be part of a deal to bring a new body at the draft

It will be interesting to see what interest there is around the league for who. I just hope the return isn't negotiating rights for a Ufa...
