Last Movie Watched

Watching this again right now...never cared for Jason Patric that much, before this. But if you want to see a performance by an actor in his prime...just tearing things a new cornhole...Ray Liotta is amazing in this.

Narc has been a movie on my to watch list for a few weeks. Maybe I'll check it out this weekend.

Wallow in the majesty that is the roaring lion of Liotta's performance little brother. And Patric, in almost a complete opposite, is wonderfully subdued. It makes for a great movie! Follow it up with Carnahan's Smoking Aces, and you'll be loving yerself!

This is my first time watching the extended cut, which really isn't that different from the theatrical cut. It's pretty silly how they argue over a few frames, lol!

And watching this movie for the millionth time just makes me really miss the '80's. So many good science fiction movies from that era and now we have to settle for a bunch of remakes. :cbgb:

Actually...not sure which one you are seeing, but the one that Veerhoven was keen on, the scene where Murphy eats a buncha bullets...it's almost unwatchable in it's cruelty. He literally gets dissected like a frog. It's brutal. I don't think the one you are seeing is THAT version, because you would know the difference.

You know, that scene has always been hard to watch for me, so I sort of tune parts of it out when I watch it, but now that you bring it up, yeah, it was different. It's extended and he gets more parts shot of on screen, right?

Oh yeah. Weller really sells it too. It's one of those scenes that I rewatch, constantly hoping for a different result...Like Hicks' end in Aliens, or DeNiro's 'decision' in Heat.

Ok. So I woke up at 5am-ish on Sunday with a fever and a sore throat. I wanted to put something harmless on that I could fade in and out of consciousness to. This movie raped my eyes. I have always forgiven Sandler and most of these guys...I don't hate Kevin James, but I don't like him either. But this movie made me YEARN for the hilarious hijinks of Daddy-Day-Care or Boat-Trip. Just a bad bad movie. Not funny, horribly acted/directed/written, etc, This is the cinematic equivalent of a generic cheeze whiz & spamtype meat sandwich buried under a dog turd and soiled bedsheets for 3 days. Pure crap. If you liked this in any way shape or form...STOP WATCHING MOVIES.

Sunday night I watched the Bluray disc of Dark City (the directors cut)

I had not seen it since it was in the theaters. Great flick

i caught this in almost the same way... i've been long over Sandler - since (probably) around Happy Gilmore. but i thoughr: "hey, i'm up..." i thought it'd be a bit more entertaining because it was a sort of comedian ensemble bro-out flick that (hopefully) promised at least a few chuckle worthy goofs.

man, was Rob Schneider particularly high... and awful

It was sooooooo dumbed down. Everyone associated with this turd should be ashamed. I would rather pay to watch Paul Blart:Mall Cop. Salma Hayek should especially look in the mirror. Hell, even Maya Rudolph and Maria Bello should fire their agents. And this movie repeats on an endless loop. It's enough to make me cancel my subscription to Starz. It's safe to say I HATE this movie.

I really wanted this to be a great movie, but it was just good. The first 20 odd minutes set the stage for what I thought could have been so much more. I enjoyed the rest of the movie but got tired of being beat over the head with the metaphor of Natalia as Spain. All in all it was enjoyable enough. Sometime comic, other times horror, other times drama. Seems the director had a million ideas he wanted to get in there and did his damn best to get them all in. A for effort, B-/C+ for execution. I'd recommend it.

BTW - Carolina Bang is SUPER HOT.

Maybe a dumb question but where did you watch this? I've really been wanting to watch it without buying it. Thanks

Ok, when I read this review I was only halfway through the movie and I couldn't understand the disappointment. But then I watched the second half. While the first half was overflowing with ideas and interesting visuals(see the title sequence), then there is an almost Tarentino like moment of wtf and all the wind comes right out of the sails. Instead of maintaining that crazy energy it seemed like the writer/director simply got all their points in and realized they had another 40 minutes to fill. I didn't get the subtext of the woman=Spain/Thanks Stormy) but once I did it made sense/became a little heavy handed. Still, it's a movie worth seeing and even though it sounds like I might not have liked it I actually really did. I kept kinda thinking it was the Bizaaro World Pan's Labyrinth.

Oh yeah, and the beginning, when the circus is conscripted, is reason enough to see the movie.

Those are some creepy looking payasos! :O

It's worth watching just to see how those payasos came to be. Visually stunning/arresting/horrid. I think I'm going to watch it again just to see if I was too harsh on first assessment. And I just want to make sure that Christina Bang really is super hot....

Yeah, second on the visually stunning part of this movie. It really is beautiful and unique. Washed out at times with single items brightly contrasting. Good acting across the board. The more I think about it the more I like it.

And yeah, she is.
