La Vie En Rose: The Extraordinary Life Of Edith Piaf (La M?me)

-- good movie. Marion Cotillard gives an amazing portrayal as Edith and the supporting cast is excellent... felt a little long at times, and maybe i have always seen Piaf through rose colored glasses, but the film depiction is more trainwreck than tragic in my opinion.

The Descent

-- further proof that the best scary movies are being made outside of this country. i put this down with Wolf Creek as one of the creepiest movies i have seen in a long time.

it also fuels an ongoing argument i have with Kat's sister as to what exactly is Horror and what exactly is Science Fiction, and how movies like this and Alien blur that line.

i also caught Huo Yuan Jia (Fearless) on cable the other night.

-- i didn't care for Hero, but this i LOVED. MUCH more my speed. with all i know about martial arts, i admit that other than the Sports Federation and that he was some Wushu master at the turn of the century, i knew dick about the man called Hu? Yu?njiǎ.

Not a bad movie at all. Truly one of Hoffman's strangest roles ever but he was very good. We enjoyed it.

I went to a screening at MGM on Saturday...Sam Riley was there too.

I like Joy Division, so I liked it, but as I've already heard more than once, if you don't like Joy Division this movie is going to drag.

Looks like some great stuff in recent posts. I'm WAAAY behind here. But one worth mentioning:

We really enjoyed this. Kind of a sleeper with a sort of odd and slowish pace, but definitely funny and entertaining when all is said and done.

And although she does a great job here.... I'll never see Carrie-Anne Moss as anyone other than Trinity. Sorry, C.

a few subtle changes were made that are likely to go unnoticed unless you've seen all three of the previous (main) versions of this film more than several times.

WHAT A MOVIE!

This is a biopic of Maurice "The Rocket" Richard and I really enjoyed it. The story was not too cheesy as sports movies tend to be. It covered Richards struggle to get out of the working class and into the NHL and also discussed the discrimination that French Canadians players struggle with. My only con is that I wished that Roy Dupuis, who played Richard, could have showed a little more emotion. Seeing Lecavalier, Avery, Lappy and Ricci skate in those old skates and pads was pretty amusing. :)

I think it might've been better served by emphasizing either the actual job of the CIA or the impact that job has on a personal life more. They both seemed to be vying for equal attention. A decent movie. Very good performances.

The Orphanage....Wow. Finally a cohesive movie from start to finish. Great mood, directing, story...definitely recommend.

Excellent movie. I'm all for using actors that are "more real" but this particular movie had the ugliest cast of characters you'll ever see. I don't need "pretty people" in my movies but man oh man did this one take ugliness to a whole new level. If I sound petty and you haven't watched it.....watch it. You'll agree with me I guarantee you.

oh, and Casey Affleck has more acting talent in his little finger than his brother Ben does in his whole body. I'm actually quite shocked that Ben Affleck directed it.

Just watched "Superbad" on DVD again for the umpteenth time and it was as awesome as always.

I also just saw "Charlie Wilson's War" in the theater and was pleasantly surprised...it was pretty entertaining.

Took the kids to see National Treasure. They loved it. I thought it was ok but not as good as the last one ...
