Last Movie Watched

Caught "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People" Saturday. Lots of LOL moments in it.

Saw a couple over this past weekend. Watched Religulous and thought it was hilarious. I wouldn't say it was overly biased but definitely leaned towards people on the fence or non-believers. Will probably p*ss people of faith off. I felt he asked some honest questions though and was quite intelligent in his remarks at times, and other times he was looking for a laugh. I laughed a lot.

The other one I saw was Son of Rambow. I liked it. It was light hearted and well acted by the kids. Anyone who has grown up with a love of cinema I think will get a kick out of it. Plus it has a pretty good soundtrack.

this movie was ****ing awesome! definitely one of the best I've seen in the genre. some of the parts scared the **** out of me but it was one of those unique films that managed to be scary and still pack a powerful emotional punch at the end.

Recently released on dvd as boss...
Look, this is the original poster art from 1974 so if anyone has a problem with it...take it up elsewhere.
Any of you Howard Stern fans have already heard the theme song...Hell the main reason i bought this is bacause the ultimate badass William 'Falconetti' Smith is in it...Ah remember the days when political correctness was not even a concept? Anyway this is a decent blaxploitation flick...take it for what it's worth.

FINALLY got to see this yesterday. As a fan of their music going back 25 years (it was highly influential to me as a teen), I really enjoyed this glimpse into the background of the band. I'm curious how accurate it is, so next up is the "Joy Division" documentary so I can hopefully compare notes. Shot entirely in black-and-white--which was perfect for this--and the photography was beautifully done. And of course the music throughout was excellent and well chosen.

As much as I liked it (woke a few times during the night thinking about it), I can't give it perfect 10 out of 10. Close.... I'd say 8 or 9 maybe as a film. Even at 2 hours it seemed to jump ahead in leaps to cover the timeline, and at the end I didn't come away with a rock-solid picture of the depths of Ian's despair. It was captivating enough that it could have easily gone another 30 or 45 minutes and only been better for it. But the acting was top-notch, and I'd very highly recommend a viewing for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. I'm probably the last one already! May watch it again soon to see if there were nuances missed the first time.

Saw Changeling this weekend. Very solid flick - top ten of 2008 material IMHO. Great performances from Jolie, Malkovich, and the actor who played the Captain.

Interesting. This is a philosophical French art house film that tries to make a link between corporate downsizing and The Third Reich. It's a bit long and has the air of pretentiousness to it, but Michael Lonsdale is great as usual.

I think the French title "The Human Question" makes more sense than the English title of "Heartbeat Detector."

I generally don't care for movies that are made to make a political statement. This one wasn't bad and didn't repeatedly pound Hollywood's left wing anti-war message into your head. I found it entertaining, although I was expecting more run-n-gun, blow-em-up action scenes. The acting was pretty good, the story line was interesting, and I was mildly entertained for 2 hours.

Seems like almost nobody I know has seen this great film. De Niro gives a flat out BRILLIANT performance as Jake La Motta. In preparation for his role he trained under the real La Motta and boxed 3 ranked matches (winning 2). The role also required him to gain 60 pounds for the latter part of the film. One of the finest from Scorsese and De Niro.
