Last Movie Watched

i watched blade runner in it's entirety for the first time...i remember watching bits and pieces of it when i was in elementary school. and i gotta say...storywise, not as good and i expected it to be. perhaps pretty advanced for the year it came out, but it seemed very wong kar wai-y to me with the funky lighting.

Just watched this german Silence of the Lambs/7EVEN ish flick...not bad, but boy did they drop the ball at the end. Coulda been a great punch-in-the-stomach ending. Maybe they'll get it right in the american remake...

I saw "The Defiant Ones" a 1958 film starring Tony Curtis and Sidney Poitier. Very interesting movie for its time.

I thought it was fun.

it was cute, but didn't live up to the hype it received.

It's so much better than "Crash" as an examination of race it's not even funny.

The screenwriters were blacklisted during the McCarthy era & had to write "The Defiant Ones" under alias'. If you remember the opening scene they're the two guys driving the truck. And in a weird twist of fate one of the writer's nephew is a famous Elia Kazan biographer, Jeff Young.

Last really good film I've seen, other than "Son of Rambow" which I liked a lot, is "Manda Bala" (Send A Bullet). It's documentary shot beautifully on super 16 anamorhpic by an Errol Morris disciple Jason Kohn. Kohn worked on "Fog of War" & "First Person" under Morris and carries his style forward extremely well. If you watched it on mute & no subtitles you'd think it was about ears, frogs & bullet proof glass. In reality it's about the industry of corruption & crime in Brazil from the street level all the way up to the government, how they affect each other and the industry that has sprout up in it's wake to counter the crime. Really well done

Took the family to see Indy today...we all liked it...not the best Indiana Jones flick...but still fun.

I watched Eastern Promises last night....dang....don't know what took me so long to watch it...that was very good!

A great little flick that fell thru the cracks...Hell, Guy Pearce pretty well rules...but it also has William f'n Fichtner, J.K.(Schillinger)Simmons, and Piper Perabo(who ain't too hard on the eyes)...and it also has the guy from Reaper and Old School...really...just see it. A lot of love and effort was put into this movie and it deserves to be seen:clapping:

x-posted from the foreign films thread

I finally, after netflix made me wait forever for my copy, then once I got it, it had to sit at home for three weeks (no time)....I finally got to see la Vie en Rose.

This is an outstanding film, I actually watched it twice I thought it was so terrific. Marion Cotillard's portrayal of Edith Piaf is sensational. She and makeup artists Didier Lavergne and Jan Archibald absolutely deserved to win their Oscars.
