Scott-Pilgrim-vs-the-World-poster.jpg

OMG I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!! finally got around to watching it. i feel bad that my friend kept trying to get me to watch it and i kept refusing, but friday night i finally gave in cuz i heard the words video game and i said hell yes.
it had everything i love. video game theme, bands, music, weirdos, an awesome soundtrack, etc. It was so fun and entertaining that i must buy it soon.

then i watched this after and well, it didn't blow my mind like SPVTW, but it was still fun and i liked the soundtrack. that girl was so badass. and yeah even with Cage in it, it was a pretty good movie.

Hah...that's a damned fine double feature!

Speaking of double features, Sunday BoobyTrap and I did:

Which is one of my top 5 Jackie Chan flicks of all time. It's goofy, but the stuntwork is incredible and it has Michelle Yeoh and Maggie Cheung. Unfortunately, we watched it on Encore or Showtime or whatever, and it was the Harvey Weinstein version. That is to say, it was dubbed, edited, re-scored with completely different (and frequently ridiculous) music and all that. There were even instances during fight sequences when they added the sound of a punch or a block where the person clearly dodged the punch or kick. ****ing stupid.

Still didn't ruin my enjoyment of the movie, though.

Then we watched this:

Hadn't seen it in ages, but still find it funny. Not quite as funny as I used to, but still funny.

For a long time, I thought Jackie Chang was just silly, but I started to appreciate his style.

He is a fan of the silent film actor, Buster Keaton, who was very physical and did his own stunts.

And Chan definitely draws from that in the sense that it's funny, but is able to be graceful in terms of how he moves.

My favorite?

See I didn't notice any of this blah blah because I was busy ENJOYING THE MOVIE.

Supercop is hilarious dubbed. I love Maggie Chung's character screaming "Kev-vin! Kev-vin!!" and "He thinks we're hooo-kers!"

Centurion+Movie.jpg

We watched Centurion last night (while eating our buy one get one free Chipotle). Very entertaining, fun gore and Olga Kurylenko. The fact that Michael Fassbender is mother ****ing hot helps too. :D

If you like watching a guy's head explode because he gets run into a tree, then you gotta check this movie out.

No chipotle for me...but I just watched this. Damn fine flick. Neil Marshall just keeps making great movies(Dog Soldiers, Descent, Doomsday) and now this. This one though is his best MOVIE. Great story, terrific acting and really good practical fx augmented by some really subtle cgi blood. There was one scene wher at least 3 heads were BISECTED widthwise. Not cut off...BISECTED. This should have been a massive hit in the theaters. Do yourself a favor...just see this.

Wow. All the goodwill I had read that was THROWN at this flick. So deserved. Ok...imagine CLOVERFIELD with foreign film sensibilities. Social commentary in spades. This movie is so quietly brilliant. It's a giant monster movie that teases and hides its budget so tantalizingly, only to give you the coolest money shot at the very end of the flick(which is frustratingly vague, but if you rewatch the beginning...rewards are there for ya.) Great acting. and if the guys who are doing PREACHER can settle for an unknown Tulip, she is in this flick. Great music/pacing/tone...the whole magilla. This, friends...is the ****!!!!

You must have missed my post. I posted about a month ago in this thread about having watched monsters.

I liked it.

Apologies...it was a helluva flick. That money shot at the end...the fact that Gareth Edwards has been annointed as the guy who will usher Godzilla into the new age...well damn, the guy has such a great eye for scope and SIZE. Cannot help but be excited.

Hadn't seen this in a really long time.

Still enjoyed the hell out of it. Geena Davis was super hot back then, too.

Could also have been titled "The Life of a 15 Year Old Girl In A British Ghetto". It's a good movie made great by the performances of Katie Jarvis and Fassbender. Worth a watch, for sure.

Also a good movie, but it never really grabbed me. I get the feeling that it would be better with multiple viewings.

Just saw Birdemic. In its entirety.

I feel my life will never be the same again.

I remember a friend saying he walked out on this movie so I never gave it a chance until now. It seemed pretty funny in a stupid way but I enjoyed watching it. Kinda reminded me of Hot Shots.

Wow. If ever a sequel justified a remake...well, this is it. The Statham remake is a guilty pleasure of mine and all this direct-to-dvd abortion does is make that flick look AWESOME by comparison. I so wanted to like this...Luke Goss has played the infected vamp in BLADE 2 and Prince Nuada in HELLBOY 2. He has acted so well while buried in makeup, I thought, here is a chance for him to let it shine...nope. The stunt fighting/cinematography may be the worst I have ever seen. You actually see pulled punches. The only top billed star who spent more than 1 day on this was Trejo. I haven't finished watching this...and I may never. Miss at all costs.
