Watched Anti Christ on my day off. Not bad. Even better when you fast forward some of the boring dialogue. The best part? When Charlotte Gainsbourg bashes Willem Dafoe's nuts with a log. I laughed out loud.

And then I popped in Human Centipede. Fastforwarded through at 1.5x every time the creepy German guy was talking. Sounded normal since he was talking too ****ing slow normally. Didn't really see the draw of this movie aside from the gross out factor.

Tried watching Let the Right One In, but I got bored 35 mins (maybe less?) in and took out the dvd.

And that summarizes my attempt at watching movies that Adgy likes.

Let the Right One In is a good movie, but it has very slow pacing, especially in the beginning. Give it another try if you want to.

Hurm. You don't have a lot of patience do you little sister? Haven't seen Anti-Christ all the way through, so I reserve judgement. But, Human Centipede? Look, this is a movie that, if you have any reservations about watching it...you shouldn't. Did you have any desire to see it, or was it just to shut Adgy up? I get that you didn't like it, but it's one of those movies you really oughtta know better about.

:umm:But, Let the Right One In...no time for mood, or plot development??? You are better than that. I know...it is indeed slow. But not everything has to be the Readers Digest condensed version. Otherwise you should just watch those 'Bunny' shorts that sum up movies in a minute and a half. I am disappointed. Now, go back and try again.:Blue_smiley:

I would like to make it known that I did not ask or tell BoobyTrap to watch any of those movies. She did it all on her own.

Nope, if a movie doesn't interest me in 10-15 minutes then I'm moving on. Time is too precious to have me sit there and bog through something. Which is why I hate most arthouse movie trailers.

Watching Human Centipede is just so that Adgy can't bitch and moan that I don't give his movies a try as with the other two I watched. He didn't sit me down and say "you have to watch this" because he knows better. This is also one of the movies that makes me sad (and slightly embarassed) to think that he enjoys something like this.

I can't deal with slow crap. I think it's a waste of my time. Not to mention, I am not a horror fan unless it has to do with a pissed off dead asian chick that's exacting revenge against some douchebag guy or zombies. I am not a fan of vampires.

I just don't find horror that mentally engaging.

So...you intentionally watched 2 movies that you were pretty sure were not in your taste range? Yes, life is too short...which is why I won't watch flicks like Sex & the City or Bridesmaids. They are not to my tastes. You should trust your judgement a little better and NOT watch movies that you know you are going to have little or no patience for.

And don't judge Adgy...once again, by this point you should know better.:winky2:

But I thought the point is to give movies out of the taste range a try and I might be surprised. At least that's what Adgy says.

Oh Adgy's been plenty judged. I can't remember which movies but I have gotten upset with him over his movie preferences because I found them particularly offensive. I know I have gotten pretty pissed off over some pink movies. And HE shakes his head at me just because I laugh when some balls or dicks get maimed.

I have NEVER complained about that, punk ass!

That **** is nothing compared to some of the stuff I watch.

So...when's the Wedding?:34smile:

And, most people can wander out of their comfort zone because they have an open mind. I think, if you are honest with yourself, you would admit...that ain't you lil sis. There isn't anything wrong with that. You have strong opinions. I wouldn't argue with you or try to get you to enjoy something you have a built in distaste for.

After all...

A man(or woman)'s got to know his(or her) limitations

And if you can't trust Dirty Harry, well who can ya trust?

Just finished this...

Was it perfect? No. Started strong and turned into a surreal portrait of what it's like to be betrayed. Wouldn't have been a problem if it hadn't been so clumsily handled. Shame really, because this movie NEEDS to be seen for the performances. Strong across the board, Ian McShane as a high-rolling 'poof' and John Hurt as a very cranky old man with ridiculous dentures especially. And I will say it as an American...English people use English so much better than we do. This movie's dialogue is variations of f*** and c***(the male form) with various words thrown in to add flavor...and it's poetry. The ending and ambiguity of a certain important detail were kind of a drag too. Solid rental worth seeing for the language and performances alone.

If you edited all the emo romance crap out of this movie, it would be so much better. I just wade through it because I love the planes.

Just got done with this...based on Robert E. Howard's 'other' character...man lives life of sin, finds out his soul is damned, and gives up violence to atone for his sins...not-so-fast...
It's a decent flick, James Purefoy(Rome) in the part that Hugh Jackman wishes he had got, some nice swordplay action, and even a decent cgi boss-villain at the very end. This film is 2 or 3 years old and has no distribution stateside. Shame, because I have seen a lot worse. Kinda reminded me of a more sophisticated version of those old drive in classics like DeathStalker, etc.

Also worth seeing for Pete Posthelwaite in one of his last appearances.:rip_1:

I didn't know that they made a Solomon Kane film!

Well of course not...it's had no release in the U.S. My Uncle, the one who made me listen to Alice Cooper goes to Hell when I was 11, always told me how Solomon was the smart brother of Conan. Based on this flick i am gonna go Amazon up the books.

Saw this with Kq the other day. Not bad. A little heavy handed and obvious, but still, not bad. I like Adrien Brody...Forest Whitaker too. Clifton Collins Jr and Cam Gigandet are pretty good in it too. Worth a netflix.:target:

Saw this last week. And even given that Green has made Hatchet 1+2...this is his best/truest HORROR film. This is a random event that could happen(it's deceptive how the gears mesh together). And you see real human reactions to a situation. Personally...too much for me. I can watch psycho chainsaw killers till the cows come home, but these REAL horror flicks freak me the hell out. Well done/acted all around.

Watched Haneke's The Piano Teacher last night.

That movie makes Black Swan look like a very special episode of the Facts of Life, and I loved Black Swan.

Same basic plot and story arc, just on a different level of understanding.
