It was out around the same time as Rocky Horror. Pretty much the same cult status yet an nth as well known. Great songs by Paul Williams and arguably DePalma's best work, you know...before he became a **** merchant. Sorry, but I cannot put into words how angry and abused I felt watching Snake Eyes/Mission to Mars in a movie theater. I do not walk out of movies so I forced myself to stay and take my medicine. And brother that was one nasty medicine teaspoon.

There is nothing wrong with your feeling that way and you do not need to apologize for hating the man responsible for such horror having been unleashed on the moviegoing world.
But Phantom Of The Paradise is great and I maintain that Carrie is as well.

The Believers - Martin Sheen is a widower who runs afoul of some voodoo guys while helping investigate a series of grisly child murders. It was ok. Some intense sequences that I liked, and the bad guy is pretty creepy, but the whole thing was also kind of silly, I thought. Worth a watch, though.
Where The Buffalo Roam - Watching Bill Murray as Hunter S. Thompson and Peter Boyle as Oscar Zarate was a very surreal experience. They both did a really good job, but it was very difficult not to compare them to Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro's portrayals, which I liked a lot better. This movie had some really funny bits, mostly in Hunter's dialogue, but as far as the story goes it seemed really uneven. An interesting watch.

Reading Cloud Atlas so close before watching the movie turned out to be a mistake. The inexorable intrusion of the book in my mind during the movie prevented me from being able to ingest the film viscerally. Subsequently, I walked away less with a strong feeling about the film in any direction, and more with some kind of mechanical diagnosis of the effectiveness of various cogs and sprockets in the machine.
If you feel like you must both read the book and watch the film, I'd say watch the film first. Either way, there will be a few spoilers, a few major ones, mostly minor, though. However, I would think the book could more easily withstand the giveaways, especially since you will not know right away which events are the same in both and which differ until you pass by.
All things considered, I did not like it on the whole, but I would encourage most people to see it and judge for themselves. Hm. I will at least post my list of reasons to see/not see this movie in either this or another thread. I can't do it right now, though.

Adgy...I saw the Believers in the movie theater first run and all I can remember is a young Jimmy Smits yelling Culibre!!!! Culibre!!!!! Thanks for reminding me of that and making me almost spittake my water.
I have Green Street Hooligans on tap. I checked out a preview. I don't know how I'm gonna watch this and not get distracted and bothered by Charlie Hunnam's shoddy attempt at a Cockney accent. 
I'm usually not the subtitle kind of person, but netflix keeps suggesting movies that have em.
First I watched The Good, The Bad and the Wierd. I think some of you guys were talking about this movie a while back. I thought it was a pretty good movie. A solid action filled adventure.
Second I watched Ip Man. Wow this was a pretty great movie. The fight scenes were bad ass. I didnt realize till the end that it was based on a real person
Edit: Oh yeah I also watched Bunraku. Did not like.

Three Outlaw Samurai - Hideo Gosha's first film is a solid samurai flick. Themes of honor, betrayal, brotherhood, etc. It's not anything you haven't seen before, but it's still a damn fine movie. Highly recommended for all samurai movie fans.
Ivan's Childhood - Tarkovsky's first film about a 12 year old Russian boy who slinks around behind German lines in WWII. Some really excellent black and white photography and a pretty decent story. I liked it, but wouldn't buy it.
Riki Oh: The Story Of Riki - ****, I love this movie. And they were showing it on Turner Classics!! WTF!!! Super violent and really, really funny. If you ever get the chance to see this at a midnight screening, you should because it's exactly the type of movie for that type of crowd. It was supposed to come out on Blu-ray a while ago, but was pulled at the last minute. You can find some copies of it on eBay, though. Highest possible recommendation.
You should watch more of them.
Will do. Got any Donnie Yen suggestions? He was great in Ip Man.

Caught Wreck-It Ralph last night and really, but I may have loved it more than I should have due to enhanced enjoyability from all the references to sweets and video games.

Ip Man 2 - not as good as the 1st, but still good
Hero - he only has one fight scene (with Jet Li), but it's a great one and a great movie
Flash Point - the story is a little silly at times, but the fight at the end with Collin Chou (Seraph from The Matrix movies) is ****ing awesome
Kill Zone / SPL - All kinds of awesome fighting. Donnie vs Sammo Hung!
Iron Monkey - Holy ****
Wing Chun - This is a really stupid/silly movie with some great action sequences by Donnie and Michelle Yeoh
The last few years, Donnie's done all kinds of high budget epic movies and I've only seen a couple of them, so if you check out any of those, let me know what you think.

Memories of Murder - movie based on events from a South Korean serial killer. Beautifully shot crime thriller. A good job building up the characters and the anxiety as the cops are try to catch the killer before he gets his next victim. Has it's funny moments, too. Thumbs up!!

So i watched Ip Man 2, and Flashpoint last night.
You were were spot on with both Adgy. I thought they were both pretty entertaining movies. The Bruce Lee scene at the end of Ip Man 2 was funny, and that scene towards the end of Flashpoint where Archer gets hit by the car, flies into the air and Ma shoots him so ridiculous yet so awesome.
