Good call on Sausage Party, I admittedly cracked up quite a bit in the beginning but dare I say I was actually bored for most of it. So much try hard.

And to another movie I was pretty underwhelmed with..

I love these type of coming of age movies but this movie just went nowhere. I didn't have any connection to the characters and when it ended I said "that's it?" A big letdown

obviously I agree with you on Sausage Party, but Everybody Wants Some, I gotta disagree. It's barely a movie, which is why I haven't ever really enjoyed Linklater's previous work, but I enjoyed the characters and the 'hang'. Your points are totally valid...I too was taken aback by the abrupt ending, but then I realized the film was really just a time snapshot. My affinity for the 70's-80's didn't hurt either.

We didn't get enough violence with Suicide Squad yesterday, so we watched American Ultra when we got home. ; )
Jesse Eisenberg really bugs me, I think Kristen Stewart is extremely overrated, and I haven't been able to stand Topher Grace since Traffic, but I took one for the team and agreed to watch this anyway. I survived! There's even less of a plot than Suicide Squad, but it's fast paced and there's never a dull moment. I found it to be quite entertaining.

While I enjoyed Oculus (by the same director), this movie completely fell apart at the end. It was an interesting story but the movie just never really came together in a satisfying way. I still need to watch the highly regarded "Hush" by the same director.

Obviously another great, inventive Pixar film although I'm still partial to a few others .

Big fan of the feel of the movie and this director. I don't even mind if movies tail off a bit at the end when they are so well acted. Just reminded me I still need to watch "Mud."

Not seeing the pix. Not sure what the first one is, the others? 2)Nemo? 3)Midnight Special?

"But you better not complain, boy, you get in trouble with the man.
Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me!"

I still can't stand CCR! mhihi:

That song always reminds me of Twilight Zone: The (mostly terrible) Movie.

For some reason — even though there is scarcely any similarity — that then reminds me of the scene in Night Shift where Bill Blazejowski (Michael Keaton) is driving some kid (Clint Howard) to his prom. "Hey, kid, you like music?"

This plays in the credits of the movie and I can't get it out of my head.

Hurm. Tense as ****. And YEAH, they do not give away too much in the trailer. Whole 'nother level of ****ed up that peels like an onion. Solid flick...unfortunately sags a little even at a brisk 88 minutes or so. Stephen Lang really deserves to be more famous. Scary.

Outstanding. Ok, they lay the dismal economy/bank screwing folks over angle a little hard, especially while basically making a very subliminal Dodge Ram truck add. But Ben Foster continues to be one of the great great character actors of this generation. Jeff Bridges upper plate is loose texas mutters his way through another unbelievable performance. And even Chris Pine certainly holds his own. The kind of movie nobody makes anymore...because nobody goes to see. Do yourself a favor...go see this.

I really enjoyed Don't Breathe but I have to disagree on one thing. I hated that a main plot point was spoiled in the trailers to the degree that I knew exactly when the first significant twist was coming. It certainly didn't ruin it for me but it absolutely should not have been in the trailer.

Yeah, but the movie was wispy thin. They had to show something in the trailer. I mean, it wasn't like this was anything other than a reverse Wait Until Dark anyway. Not a LOT of real twists except for that thing with the, well you know.

Fincher movie long weekend...

Watched: Se7en, then The Game, and then Fight Club. And I realized the only movie I don't own is Panic Room.

Out of those three? Se7en, then Fight Club, then The Game. Overall probably Zodiac at #1 ahead of Se7en and Fight Club. Then Gone Girl or TSN.

Schedule finally opened up enough for me to catch Kubo and the Two Strings. This is one of my favorites of the year, so far, might be top of the list. To be fair, though, I'm not necessarily doing somersaults over this year's fare so far. Laika really delivers the magic here, both in terms of solid story and absolutely stunning visuals. In fact, the story lured me in so much at times that I took the amazing craftsmanship of the animation (puppeteering? well, either way…) for granted occasionally. I'm even more glad now that I got to visit the Laika exhibit at Universal. I recommend both the exhibit and the movie.

Next up on what might turn out to be a catch-up weekend is Hell or High Water.

turns video camera on, has friends run and shout while he shakes camera and edits any possibility of a coherent frame...yes frame..
.because the movie is one 'oh hell no' after another, and during the extremely LONG 90 minute runtime, if you can tell me what happens after the first 20 minutes you get a button.

****. Just ****

So a nay? Haha.

I was really into the first one. More the concept that the actual film. It made me dizzy. Still, I wanna see this new one.

This song reminds me of that property.

Let me guess. When your parents told you not to touch the stove because you'd burn yourself, you touched it anyway?

My mother is Jewish, lol, like Old Testament.

Yeah, she told me not to touch things.

I did so anyways, haha.

You've read me like a book! :good:

So it was the same thing as the original movie?

Seriously, how did this happen? Did people forget how awful the original movie was or just not want to admit they got conned into seeing one of the worst things ever?
