PS: Is Ong-Bak better than the Protector? The style of Muay Thai he used is probably effective in a real fight, but made for some boring fight scenes. And I heard that the best fight scene, with the Capoeira fighter, got cut short because the guy got injured, so you can imagine my disappointment to find out that there could have been more to that.

The Protector is better as far as action sequences, but it is even worse as far as story/plot goes (believe it or not).

I love 'em both.

I went and saw The Lives Of Others tonight. You know, the movie that just won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language film?

Was it good? Yeah. Definitely.
Was it better than Pan's Labyrinth? **** no.

blood diamond, and tv show Prison Break
i cant wait for the next part

OK, I need to know one thing about Blood Diamond. His accent in the trailers made me turn to a friend and go "Is this serious... is he being serious... he's not just ****ing around?" Does it work in the context of the movie, can you let it go? Cause... my God was it awful in those previews.

If that's how you felt about the previews, then the movie will drive you nuts. His accent is terrible!!

I have yet to see it...but I do know the Afrikaans accent is not the easiest thing in the world to nail down. That being said, the previews made me say "wtf" every time I heard him say anything. Also, a friend of mine who knows someone from South Africa said Leo's accent wasn't THAT bad. So...whatever.

apparently some South African bird called into either Kevin & Bean or Adam Carolla's show while they were pasting DiCrapio and said that his accent was pretty good.

i watched Babel the other night... despite a couple of issues i had with the arc, it was a well done film.

It was probably Leo's publicist or some stalker faking an accent of her own, because that was one of the most painful things I've ever seen. I kinda felt bad for the guy. Seriously, he can't even act in English. That's a tough position for him to be in. Kinda like Keanu Reeves decimating British... but possibly even worse. THAT'S saying something.

REALLY want to see Zodiac though. Been fascinated with that since childhood. So how was it then? DrD? Anybody?

I saw Zodiac last night. It was pretty good. Very interesting details into the case and despite it never being solved there is a satisfying resoltution. The movie is almost three hours though and near the end you begin to feel it a bit. Overall I liked it though, really dug the writing, especially since it's more of a talky instead of any action.

This weekend I saw "Stranger than Fiction" due to a recommendation from a friend. I had remembered seeing the trailers for it a few months ago... the Will Ferrell movie where the author is writing his life, but it had looked like a pretty dumb comedy and I never really heard a peep about it after it was released. Well it just hit DVD, and it's amazing. Not even really a comedy, though it has some funny moments... it's probably one of the better films I've seen in a long time and quite a surprise actually.

Saw Pan's Labyrinth for the 4th time tonight, and I feel confident saying that not only should it have won Best Foreign Language film, but it should have won Best Film.

I've got that one. Pretty intense, and a bit uncomfortable, eh? You always hear about how "dangerous" Rio is.... I didn't really understand until seeing that.

Rented "The Prestige" tonight. Kinda long, but I liked it. Decent acting, and easy to get into. The rivalry between the two magicians was pretty absorbing. Lots of twists; mentally stimulating; and keeps revealing itself until the very last scenes. Definitely recommended.
