Mr. Wu starring Lon Chaney from 1927.

Saw Michael Clayton this weekend. I thought it was really good. A solid 4/5. It's hard to explain the plot without spoiling things. All I could say to people who asked about it was that it's not a 'Bourne Part 4' type of movie. :)

Also watched Elizabeth for the first time on HD DVD, [on the off-chance that the showtimes did not work out and I had to see its sequel Elizabeth: The Golden Age. I didn't, but maybe next weekend.] Not being an ancient history buff, I thought there were some parts where things were not explained very well, and the same was true of characters as well. Cate Blanchett was awesome though, and the cinematography was fantastic. I'd give it a 3/5 overall.

Hilarious and heartfelt. 5 stars. Gosling is without a doubt the best actor under the age of 30 working in Hollywood today.

Enthralling and infinitely layered. Best film I've seen all year. It's so rare that movie studios make films for adult moviegoers. Thank you Miramax and Ben Affleck.

If Ben Affleck and Ed Harris don't end up with Academy nods there is no ****ing justice. 5 stars.

We sincerely apologize to all Platypus enthusiasts out there who are offended by that thoughtless comment about Platypi. We at View Askew respect the noble Platypus, and it is not our intention to slight these stupid creatures in any way. Thank you again and enjoy the show.

Part of me wishes Kevin Smith would've died after the release of this film. His work post-Dogma has been THAT bad in my eyes. Money ruins everything.

Said the man who wishes another Oscar for Ben Affleck. ;)

Beyond Re-Animator. I love horror and I love camp. The first two Re-Animators had plenty of both. This was just plain boring. Even the fantastic Mr. Combs couldn't save this turd. I don't think I have ever fast forwarded a movie like I did with this.

Excellent movie. Just as good as the first two. Nothing better than watching waves of bad guys going after Bourne only to be sent back in bodybags.

Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back was JOKES. Loved it.

It was punchline after punchline after punchline. The setup was Jay and Silent Bob's appearance in the previous 4 films.
Clerks 2 was the same. No heart and no subtlety.

OUTSTANDING MOVIE. Think Garden State meets American Beauty.

Just watched this - loved it. Definitely an excellent film.

This was also an excellent movie. It reminded me of Lost in Translation, but I thought this film did a better job of developing the characters, showing how two tormented souls could find a bond with each other. Highly recommended.

Up in Smoke.....

Hadnt seen it since my High School days pun intended. Was still as funny sober at 8am saturday morn as it was late friday night high as a kite. Some cool bonus footage as well featuring a young Harry Dean Stanton.

Nice to see someone who knows about Fukasaku's work beyond Battle Royale. Have you seen his Under the Flag of the Rising Sun?

Yep. It's pretty ****ing amazing, although the Yakuza Papers stuff is my favorite work of his by far.

Yakuza Graveyard and Graveyard Of Honor are not far behind, though.
