Last Movie Watched

All I can say is - wow. What a ****ing incredible movie. I loved the atmosphere created by Park. Very powerful and distressing.

I watched it 'cause my son kept bugging me to.

It was just "OK", about 20-minutes to long, cutting short a few scenes here and there would improve it.

Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D. oooh, beat that.
actually, it was Bill Nye the Science Guy in science yesterday, but that doesnt count...
anyway, Nightmare was good, it's one of my favorite movies, but the 3D part wasnt all that...well, there really wasnt any 3D. it wasnt worth all the hype and excitement and whatnot.

I went to the screening of "Love in the Time of Cholera"

The first act is bad.
Bratt enters and saves the film.
Shakira provides the soundtrack, in spanish, and very nicely done and well-placed.

I'm bummed with this film.
This is Mike Newell. He directed "Four Weddings", which was great.

But then again, as big a smarty-pants I think I am, I couldn't ever get through a Marquez book.

Maybe it's the material that has me not liking the movie?

*Special Bonus* Lotsa boobies, funny sex scenes, including sex between 72 year olds.

I love this movie! "First you want to kill me, now you want to kiss me? Blow"

Alright, so I finished Chan-Wook Park's vengeance trilogy. I loved each one of them. Each film was very unique, and that really says something about Park's talents as a director. If I had to put them in order of preference, I'd have to say 1) Oldboy 2) Mr. Vengeance 3) Lady Vengeance.

Great movie. Tony Leung gives another great performance. The movie starts out as a spy movie, but takes a very dark turn about an hour in. I didn't think the sex scenes were as bad as some people say. Also, they're pivotal to the plot. Definitely worth seeing.

Darjeeling Limited

In a word, disappointing. I'm a huge Andersen fan and he made a good movie but it's so deeply rooted in his comfort zone that it's impossible for any fan of his work to not think "I've seen this before." The one part of the movie that I dug in a big, big way was when they find their way into the village. That 20 minutes of the movie felt inspired. I wish I could say that for the other 2 hours.

3 stars

If you're a fan of the samurai movies of Kurosawa and Kobayashi, you should definitely check these films out

Both of them are incredible films - beautifully shot with great performances. I ****ing loved every minute of these films. I never thought a modern director would ever make another great samurai-themed movie (especially after watching The Last Samurai, which was a travesty of the genre), but Yoji Yamada wonderfully crafted these films, and they are very much in the spirit of a classic Kurosawa movie.

Also, Yamada made a third samurai film, entitled Bushi no Ichibun (aka Love and Honor), but I haven't been able to get my hands on a copy.

Definitely check these films out if you have the chance. I cannot say enough about how much I love these movies.

Man, you have good taste in movies.

Love & Honor is out overseas, but... Funimation (who has the US rights) hasn't announced any release date out here, as far as I know. Although they gave it a single screen theatrical release in New York earlier this year.

DYING to see it.
