LGK's Hard & Heavy

I was browsing my music archive and picked up Blaze's "Silicon Messiah" for the first time in years. I had almost forgotten how much I loved that album and listening to it again shows that it does indeed stand the test of time; it's a killer album! I know people didn't care for him in Iron Maiden, myself included, but his debut solo album is a way better Iron Maiden album than he ever sang on. In fact, it's probably better than anything Iron Maiden has released since! It's up-tempo, catchy, gallopping... Classic Iron Maiden but a bit heavier at times.

I was actually a big Wolfsbane fan and I knew that he was wrong for Maiden...his solo stuff leans more towards Maiden than the VH-y Wolfsbane I'd imagine. I might have to give that a try.

Review: Rob Zombie - Mondo Sex Head | CraveOnline

Few musical icons are quite as polarizing to the world of metal as Rob Zombie. Some find him to be a modern renaissance man, a raconteur who unleashes his imagination through film, art and music. Others think Zombie is a hack. An opportunist who wrote a few good songs and lives off them while making mediocre horror films.

Is it possible to feel BOTH ways?

Mondo Sex Head is a lot of fun, and I figure that’s what Zombie wanted. I don’t hate Zombie, but I see him as an entertainer. His movies, live shows, music and art are all visceral, easy and stab right for quick responses. He’s a gimmick man and his gimmick works. I don’t begrudge him that and I find those who hate Rob Zombie to be taking what he does way too seriously. I doubt Zombie takes what he does that seriously. This album is an extension of our celebrity infused consumer culture. It’s harmless and fun so buy it and don’t think too much about it.

Will I listen to this Mondo Sex Head again? No, probably not. If it was on at a party would I boogie my ass off with the hot Goth chick sporting the Rob Zombie T-shirt as part of her well manicured counter-culture identity?

Lamb Of God Singer Releases Statement About His Time In Czech Prison | Rock News | Eddie Trunk | EddieTrunk.com

Greetings. This is D. Randall Blythe, checking in from my beloved hometown of Richmond, VA, United States of America. I was recently released on bail from Pankr?c Prison in Prague, Czech Republic, after over a month of incarceration. Now that I am out for the moment, I would like to say a few things.

1. While in prison, I had minimal knowledge of how my case was viewed anywhere but the Czech Republic. I was told by my attorney that I had a lot support from peers in the music industry, my hometown, fans, and of course my family. I cannot express how emotional it made me upon my release to read about even a fraction of the voices that were raised on my behalf. From legends in my music community, to fans across the world, and even people who were previously unaware of my existence but sympathized with my plight- I am truly humbled. I cannot thank you enough for your thoughts and prayers. I would especially like to thank the people of Richmond, VA, for standing by me. In the 48 hours I have been home, many people I have never met before have stopped me on the street, waved and smiled as I passed by, or said hello in a restaurant. All have said "We are glad you are home, Randy". You all make me proud and grateful that I call Richmond home.

2. I would like state that I suffered no abuse, from either authorities or inmates, during my incarceration in Pankr?c. I received no special treatment, and was in general population with everyone else- make no mistake, it was prison, not some celebrity rehab tv show. But I was treated fairly by the guards and kindly by my fellow inmates. People are dying of starvation all over the world. Men and women are losing their lives daily in the Middle East and other war torn regions. I had food, clothes, shelter, and no one was trying to kill me. I cannot complain over a short stay in prison while many people elsewhere fight to survive on a daily basis.

3. If it is deemed necessary for me to do so, I WILL return to Prague to stand trial. While I maintain my innocence 100%, and will do so steadfastly, I will NOT hide in the United States, safe from extradition and possible prosecution. As I write this, the family of a fan of my band suffers through the indescribably tragic loss of their child. They have to deal with constantly varying media reports about the circumstances surrounding his death. I am charged with maliciously causing severe bodily harm to this young man, resulting in his death. While I consider the charge leveled against me ludicrous and without qualification, my opinion makes no difference in this matter. The charge exists, and for the family of this young man, questions remain. The worst possible pain remains. It is fairly common knowledge amongst fans of my band that I once lost a child as well. I, unfortunately, am intimately familiar with what their pain is like. Therefore, I know all too well that in their time of grief, this family needs and deserves some real answers, not a media explosion followed by the accused killer of their son hiding like a coward thousands of miles away while they suffer. I am a man. I was raised to face my problems head on, not run from them like a petulant child. I hope that justice is done, and the family of Daniel N. will receive the closure they undoubtably need to facilitate healing. I feel VERY STRONGLY that as an adult, it would be both irresponsible and immoral for me not to return to Prague if I am summoned. This is not about bail money. This is about a young man who lost his life. I will act with honor, and I will fight to clear my good name in this matter. Thank you for reading this, and I wish you all peace."

In June, Blythe was arrested by Czech authorities and detained on suspicion of manslaughter regarding a May 2010 incident when a fan who repeatedly came onstage was pushed off and eventually died.

Ministry’s Al Jourgensen collapses on stage in Paris: ‘The sh*t hit the fan for me last night’ | slicing up eyeballs // 80s alternative music, college rock, indie

Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen — who reformed the industrial-metal giant following a blood-draining 2010 health scare — collapsed on stage in Paris on Saturday night and was rushed to an area hospital, where he was “diagnosed to have had a full-system collapse due to extreme dehydration and heat exhaustion.”

According to a statement posted on Ministry’s Facebook page this morning, Jourgesen’s condition was “intensified by the lack of ventilation on stage at the venue” and was not due to drug and/or alcohol intake: “Doctors confirm via blood tests conducted that Jourgensen’s alcohol blood levels were well below normal and no narcotics were found in his system.”

Guns N' Roses To Set Up Residency At The Joint, Las Vegas This Fall | Rock News | Eddie Trunk | EddieTrunk.com

Las Vegas will never be the same as the world’s most iconic rock band, Guns N’ Roses, takes over Sin City with their first-ever residency Appetite for Democracy at The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino this fall. The band will play 12 mind-blowing shows starting Wednesday, October 31st through Saturday, November 24th.

Guns N’ Roses has teamed up with Hard Rock Hotel & Casino to invade Las Vegas with a never-before-seen, one-of-a-kind music experience. Each night, the band will perform an electrifying show featuring a set list created exclusively for The Joint. Appetite for Democracy will span the band’s biggest hits from their debut album Appetite for Destruction (1987) through their platinum-selling record Chinese Democracy (2008). Exact details about the show are being kept under wraps but fans can expect the raw and gritty heavy metal Guns N’ Roses is known for along with a few surprise elements. Produced exclusively by AEG Live, Appetite for Democracy is unlike any show the band has ever done before or will ever do again.

The history-making residency comes on the heels of Appetite for Destruction’s 25th anniversary. The groundbreaking record propelled Guns N’ Roses into rock music history with songs including Welcome to the Jungle,Sweet Child O’ Mine, and Paradise City. Named as one of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” by Rolling Stone, Appetite for Destruction enjoyed one of the longest runs of any hard rock record, remaining on Billboard’s “Hot 100” for nearly three years. To date, the album has sold more than 18 million copies in the United States, with worldwide sales in excess of 30 million.

“We are ecstatic to announce Guns N’ Roses as our newest residency at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino,” said Paul Davis, vice president of entertainment at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. “This is what The Joint is all about, bringing fans up close and personal with one of the most iconic bands in the world. It will be a truly unique Guns N’ Roses experience!”

"This past New Year's Eve, Guns N' Roses tore the roof off The Joint with two sold-out shows. They were incredible; we watched them perform their timeless hits and soon-to-be legendary songs off Chinese Democracy. Immediately following, AEG Live and Hard Rock began turning our fantasy of having them as a resident artist into a reality,” added Bobby Reynolds, vice president of booking at AEG Live, Las Vegas. “To hear one of the biggest bands in the world rip through their catalog of hits is going to be amazing. There is no better way to celebrate the anniversary of their iconic album Appetite for Destruction than to present Appetite for Democracy at The Joint."
