Happy 60th Birthday To The Metal God Rob Halford! | Rock News | Eddie Trunk

The Metal God Rob Halford turns 60 today August 25th. The singer and his bandmates celebrated "with a big 'Harley' cake plus a few gifts and cards when [they] were all together in Berlin," according to a posting on the group's official web site, reports blabbermouth.net.


Robert John Arthur Halford was born August 25th, 1951 in Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire, England and raised in Walsall, England. Rob met Ian Hill through Halford's sister, and eventually teamed up with Hill, K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton in the band Judas Priest.

Sleaze Roxx: When Hanoi Rocks disbanded the first time in 1985 how much of a role did Vince Neil play in that happening?


Michael Monroe: (long pause) There was a car accident where unfortunately our drummer (Razzle Dingley) was killed. That was one of the reasons that Hanoi Rocks disbanded. As far as Vince Neil I have nothing to say. It was an accident that surely all of us would like to put behind us already. I would never blame anybody for an accident -- you can't. What happened happened, and I can't change that. Everybody suffered from this and we'd like to put that behind us. Unfortunately for Hanoi Rocks we couldn't keep it together after that happened, it was major blow for everybody. Let me say this, it wasn't just that Razzle died, but Sami Yaffa left the band -- we had no bass player and no drummer. The band was so much like a family, we were so young and close, that with those key losses we couldn't keep it together after that.

Fairly magnanimous. I remember when it happened...HR was going to play the Palace and be huge!!!! Shame.

I had long hair from my early teens. Every chance my dad had, he would ask me when I was getting a hair cut and all that other stuff. When I was 28; I woke up one mornin...... um, afternoon, looked in the mirror, and basically said "Screw it, it's time." Got my head shaved and donated some 27 inches of my epic, Samson-like mane (which had graceful wave, no split ends; and was so naturally black, not even light could escaped its icy grip) to Locks of Love.

My dad's reaction? You guessed it.

WHY WOULD YOU CUT YOUR HAIR!?

Well...since we are telling war stories. When I was young I had to fight haircuts tooth and nail. So when it finally became my choice I turned away from the shears and never looked back. If my parents had let me indulge I may have gotten through that phase...maybe.

in 07 my gf told me if i didn't cut my hair and get a better job she would dump me. i cut my hair but didn't get a job so that was it. i got a fat raise a month later! haven't cut my hair since
