AFM Records will kick off their 2012 North American release schedule with the CD release of the highly-anticipated debut from BUCK SATAN AND THE 666 SHOOTERS, the psycho-country/metal alter-ego of MINISTRY's infamous founder, Al Jourgensen.

In addition to his worldwide notoriety as the godfather of industrial metal, the public has long been aware of Al Jourgensen's Doppelganger, Buck Satan; an idea birthed in homage to his longtime country music hero Buck Owens. Owens, just prior to his death, "blessed" Jourgensen’s country side-project Buck Satan & The 666 Shooters, and now finally fully realized years later, this anticipated, apocalyptic bit of filthy modern Americana is complete, the collection of hymns dubbed Bikers Welcome! Ladies Drink Free.

Jourgensen recruited additional henchmen for the debut recordings from Buck Satan & The 666 Shooters, including Rick Nielsen (CHEAP TRICK), Tony Campos (STATIC-X) and Mike Scaccia (RIGOR MORTIS), in addition to a plethora of guest musicians bearing fiddles, cellos, pedal steel guitars, mandolins, banjos, and more for the construction of the album, utilizing his extensive knowledge of country music to accomplish the album, including nine original numbers as well as a nod to the legendary GRAM PARSONS on 'Drug Store Truck Drivin' Man'.

Bikers Welcome! Ladies Drink Free will be released on CD via AFM Records on January 17th, with the digital release being handled by Jourgensen's own Thirteenth Planet Records.

This year’s DimeBash event was held at the Key Club in Hollywood last night (Wednesday, December 14th) and celebrated the legacy of PANTERA guitar legend "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott.

Guest included the vocal talents of heavy hitters like Jerry Cantrell (ALICE IN CHAINS), Dave Draiman (DISTURBED), Duff McKagan (GUNS N' ROSES), Serj Tankian (SYSTEM OF A DOWN), Mike Muir (SUICIDAL TENDENCIES) and Sebastian Bach (SKID ROW); the guitar fury from players like John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE), Scott Ian (ANTHRAX), Phil Demmel (MACHINE HEAD), Warren DeMartini (RATT), Ben Harper, Chris Howorth (IN THIS MOMENT) and Tom Morello (RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE); and the ground-shaking rhythms of Geezer Butler (BLACK SABBATH) Doug Pinnick (KING'S X), James Lomenzo (WHITE LION), Ginger Fish (MARILYN MANSON), Brian Tichy (BILLY IDOL) and Joey Jordison (SLIPKNOT).

First Night Of Metallica’s 30th Anniversary Shows Now On Sale

Metallica recently wrapped up a week long stand at San Francisco’s legendary Fillmore, and now you can own a recording of the first night of this milestone event via download at LiveMetallica.Com. Each night featured surprise special guests, obscure songs and rarely or never before played cover songs.

On the opening night of this 30th anniversary bash, the band were joined by Saxon’s Biff Byford for a run through ‘Motorcycle Man’ from Saxon’s killer ‘Wheels Of Steel’ album. More heroes of the NWOBHM (that’s New Wave Of British Heavy Metal for those who don’t speak abbreviation) in the form of Brian Tatler and Sean Harris were on board to blast through four of their Diamond Head gems including the classic ‘Am I Evil?’.

Former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted also made an appearance, as did Metal Church guitarist John Marshall, who might be better known to the band’s fans as the guitar tech who stood in for James Hetfield on guitar after the infamous pyro incident in 1992 where Hetfield was seriously burned. Members of the classical combo Apocalyptica also joined in the celebration.

Among the other surprises was the performance of a previously unheard song called ‘Hate Train’ from the ‘Death Magnetic’ sessions. The opening show runs just under three hours long, features 22 songs and is available as MP3, Flac or Alac. The other nights of the celebratory run will be available for download shortly. Nor is this a one-time shot, the band actually offers up a pretty large catalog of live recordings for download on their website.

Hurm. Not good, especially when you read the comments and see that Ghost's(which I only found out about this year, thanks Sarf) cd came out in 2010...it would seem they may have cobbled this together. Also...Megadeth, bleh. And, while I like the new cd, Korn shouldn't be on their either. Be honest, you just like it because Liturgy is on there. I am not a fan of the more extreme choices on this list, in my opinion Mastodon's new one should probably be number 1.

Liturgy, Tombs, Mastodon, Wolves In The Throne Room, Earth and Yob are the only ones on the list I've heard and I liked them all. Don't know about any of the others.
 
That Ghost cd does my Blue Oyster heart proud. It's definitely in my top 5 this year(simply because I had never heard of it, once again, thanks Sarf.) If you haven't, you really should check it out son.
 
Reading some of the descriptions for other albums on that list, I think I'm also going to have to look into a few more of them. That Bruce Lamont one especially.

No problem, you should probably also check out "Living with the Ancients" by Blood Ceremony and somebody who I mentioned on here not too long ago was Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats.

Both of those bands come from the same label as Ghost, so it's awesome occult/horror movie themed, retro-rock worship.

Very good list, that Giles Corey album is awesome. Adgy, that's the same dude from Have A Nice Life.

Also the Ash Borer, False, Loss, Mournful Congregation (finally listened to it KingsOv, it's awesome), Thou are some good metal albums released this year. Probably should make a proper list...
