Okay, Coheed & Cambria types.

I was told I absolutely HAD to listen to these guys, being that I was a fan of Rush and that "they are so similar, musically." Well, they aren't...but, "okay, I'll give it a go!" I said.

So I gave it a go. I bought and listened to the album that was recommended to me...Second Stage Turbine Blade (a cool album name, and right up my jet-powered alley).

I listened to it again.

I listened to it a third time.

I hate them. Okay, maybe hate is a strong word. I dislike their music quite whole-heartedly.

Their musical structure is lacking, in my opinion. Their vocalist is muddled in the mix, making the lyrics virtually unintelligible...and he sounds like a breathy teenage girl.

Am I missing something? Do they have any instrumental-only tracks that I might like on other albums?

I don't like them because their frontman looks like Napalm Death's bass player yet somehow manages to sound like that chick from Frente!.

I simply can't wrap my head around it all.

Anyhoo

"Technical metal?" Is this a new genre?

Whatever. Holy crap! THAT WAS RAD!!!

That's about the same reaction I had when I heard that track sometime last year. I've played it, at minimum, once a week since then.

Tech and Prog seem to be kind of interchangeable terms these days. I dunno....if it's good, I listen.

Lets get this thread back to what it was started for, please. Thanks.

Talk about the music, not the musician's political leanings.

SING ME A SONG, YOU'RE A SINGER! :firefire:

Halford does a remarkably good job, even though Dio is obviously the man for this song.

My favorite "Sabbath" song since like The Mob Rules or something. Easily on par with the classics in the Dio/Sabbath catalogue in my opinion!
