I fear he will be moved with a first rd draft pick for a skilled player with a questionable work ethic with one or two years left on contract before being a ufa.

Yeah I can't see Blake being tempted to trade Greentree unless the offer is too good to pass up. Even then, he needs to focus not only on winning now but also rebuilding our pipeline. That better not happen.
Blake gets feedback from the whole group so it better not happen.
They absolutely need offense, he has size, they already look suspect with Fiala's rough stretch and Faber
excelling in the Wild.
I really don't see any FA's that would get us over the hump.
If they trade Greentree, I will join the fire Blake brigade.
Right, it’s never been his MO to trade prospects. It’s actually the opposite, and at times even to his detriment because he holds too long. Not worried about Greentree at all.Yeah I can't see Blake being tempted to trade Greentree unless the offer is too good to pass up. Those would be great pick ups. With (probably) Lewis, Jeannot, Gavrikov (I hope not!) and Englund coming off the books next year, and having to sign Laferriere the Kings could have room to do so.Yeah I can't see Blake being tempted to trade Greentree unless the offer is too good to pass up. I can think of a few upcoming FAs I wouldn't mind adding in the offseason, at the right price: F -Rantanen, Tavares, Bennett, Mantha D - Chychrun
I think it will take more than one player to make us a contender, however, with the possible exception of Rantanen (who I bet CO will lock up before he hits free agency)
Gavrikov has been great, but he has been pretty ineffective in the playoffs the last couple seasons. If he can turn that around, though, I'm with you on keeping him over signing Chychrun. Those would be great pick ups. I'd rather have Gavrikov over Chychrun tho.
2026-27 will be interesting with needing to resign Kempe, Kopitar, Spence, Clarke. Movarare, Helnius, Thomas ... etc. Might want to save some money.![]()

Exception was Faber but it’s been well-documented that he didn’t sign when offered and join the team in the playoffs when Doughty was out. Unique situation.
Swooons!!!!!If be is big and strapping then he's a King
I know. That was disappointing. With Drew out especially he had a real opportunity.Faber is an odd one.
Who wouldn't want to play in LA and in the playoofs
Gav is underwhelming offensively.
Barring a deep playoff, you let him walk with the emergence and continuity of Moverare and the strong D Corp.
We need to see what a Gavi extension would cost. One thing the Caps did which was brilliant IMO was bring in Roy and Chychrun. I think they'll extend Chychrun in the next month. I think Mikey and Gavi have been a very solid first pair for the cost of Doughty. If we can extend 84 for around his current cap hit, then I'd lock him up longer term. If not, then maybe look at comparables like an Orlov or someone else in the middle range. I don't want to be wedded to players and I don't want to be overpaying. The way the Kings have continued to play great during Doughty's absence has been pretty eye opening for me.I know. That was disappointing. With Drew out especially he had a real opportunity.
Gavi is tough because the team is better having him than not, but I agree I don’t like the cap hit he’s going to incur. For a team with offensive issues that money may be spent more wisely elsewhere. There is a drop off between Gavi and Mo however. Like Edmundson, he’s a good third pairing D.
Agreed, the Wilson/PLD/Protas line has been their most consistent line and has really turned heads. Totally a throwback but that line projects to be extremely effective come playoff time.Greentree looks like a steal for the Kings. I wish we could have nabbed Ilya Protas too. The Caps have been playing a "big strapping line" of Wilson, PLD, and older bro Protas and it seems very effective even though a bit of a throwback in today's NHL. I certainly have more confidence in Greentree excelling as a rookie if Hiller is the coach; Todd seemed to stunt the growth of most of our kids.

\The nutjobs on HF have been crying, bitching , moaning for Blake to be fired for years. Most of them don't even live in the area and are trolls or have reverse Stolkholm syndrome.I doubt Blake would trade away Greentree and the first round pick for a bag of magic beans the way he did with Vilardi, Kupari, and Iafallo for PLD last season. If he ever does something like that again, then there will definitely be vehement calls for Blake to be shown the door.

Weird to see not 1 Ling on team Canada but we have more of an international contingent.
