Nearing the 40-game mark of their 2025-26 campaign, Ontario continues to show significant improvement with a roster largely filled with first and second-year pros. Building on their victory in Colorado on Tuesday, the Reign accomplished something new on Wednesday night — they won consecutive road games over the Eagles.

Nothing came easy, though. Even though winning on the mountain the night before gave them a one-point lead over Colorado in the Pacific Division, a loss on Thursday would essentially give it all back. And history suggested that’s what would happen.

Knowing Ontario had never won back-to-back games in Colorado, nobody should have been surprised when the Reign were trailing 3-0 just a minute into the final frame of regulation. Then, coach Andrew Lord began working some of his magic. The rookie bench boss rallied his squad, and they started chipping away at things soon thereafter.

Kings prospects Martin Chromiak and Kenny Connors set up Nikita Alexandrov on the power play, giving Ontario their first goal of the night at 4:13 of P3. That same trio was back at it later in the period, with Connors scoring to cut the lead to 3-2. Alexandrov struck again with the man advantage in the dying seconds of regulation to tie things up. When neither side capitalized in overtime, they progressed to a shootout.

Late in the game, Lord used Kings prospect Koehn Ziemmer during a 6-on-5 advantage in the third. During overtime, he gave shifts to fellow rookies Connors, Jared Wright, and Kirill Kirsanov. Second-year pros Aatu Jamsen and Angus Booth also had shifts in the extra session. Similar to many games in Ontario’s recent 8-2-0 run, it’s been a heavy dose of the young Kings prospects.

How did it all end? Take a look at the video highlights below:
