***New York Rangers vs Los Angeles Kings GDT 3/25/25 7:30pm on FanDuel***

Game over. Buh bye Nyuuuuuuuuu Yaaaawwwwwwwkkkkk Ceeeeeeeeeeteeeeeeeeeeee. Take that L and hold it for yourselves. LA sweeps another team this season. On to Colorado now.

What a meaningful win this was tonight! So great to see them win the game in hand and take sole possession of 2nd in the Pacific. Guys are showing real character. Hoping Jean-o is not significantly injured.

Kings showing a lot of character in these games. They aren't collapsing after going down early. And they ply tough defense which keeps them in a lot of games. Well done!

I celebrate San Jose being being a dumpster fire, but I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate their fans. Chicago/NYRangers/Toronto all have teams with rich heritage so whatever, enjoy your team.

Edmonton, OTOH... nope. Zero remorse. Trash team, trash players, trash fans.

Okay, let me elaborate. You may dislike my post about this but here goes:

Edmonton - We all can agree that the organization and their fanbase is repugnant to the core. A team rich with history stemming back from the Gretzky era, and this team is so spoiled rotten that even when they had their down years in the 90s to the mid-2010s (aside from a Cup run in '06) they still deserve to be despised for all they're worth.

NYC - Historically the [American] sports media is centered there which makes it woefully easy to despise them, hence why I always refer to the NYC sports media as the [L]East Coast (or just [L]EC for short) Media. With the historical success of their Yankees team, which causes their fans to stretch their knowledge to the other teams within their area even if it doesn't makes sense within the context of the other sports leagues, I find it virtually impossible to pay even an ounce of respect for that city and its fanbase (and yes, that includes the other lesser NYC teams such as the Islanders, Mets, Jets, and Nets, even if the Giants and Jets are based in East Rutherford, NJ [they're still billed as NYC teams by proxy albeit the Devils don't count since they're in Newark and don't fall under my hatred/dislike list]). If that's not enough to convince you, then maybe their eternally smug superiority complex will. Patience and [mental] fortitude are two things I can never muster with these people as far as civil conversations concerning sports are involved. Hell, even if I were born in the [L]EC, I still wouldn't find myself singing praises for that city unless I was actually born from the city and/or its metro area itself.

Chicago - They're the Midwestern equivalent of NYC but replace the superiority complex with an inferiority/insecurity one and have ten times less the amount of hockey knowledge, as well as all of their teams not having the same success as that of the Yankees. Concerning the Hawks, I understand the plight of them having Bill Wirtz running that team down to the ground with his revoltingly cheapskate behavior up until his death in '07, but still. Given that the Hawks fans have a very annoying tendency to wear their favorite team's jersey in games where their team is not even playing, I can't take them seriously at all. They're the NHL's equivalent of Golden State Warriors fans; two teams with fanbases that have a comical lack of sports knowledge within their respective leagues.

Toronto - They have their reasons to whine: despite the fact their team won 13 Cups, their last one was in '67, the same time as the Expansion Six era started for the NHL. However, they still are a fanbase worthy of derision because the hockey media is centered there and their fans have a tendency to scrutinize players from not only other opposing teams but their own as well, which comes off as highly condescending. Hence, it doesn't feel all that rosy and viable for players themselves to feel like they enjoy playing for Toronto.

SJ/SF/Bay Area - They just can't get over their hatred of LA sports teams that it quickly became an annoying stereotype. I know they borrowed the "BEAT LA" chant from Boston (and this one little thing is a reason why I dislike Boston even if I weirdly don't put them in my hatred list) but still, it makes them look like they're suffering from "Little Brother Syndrome" towards LA. Can't get myself to respecting their fans either.

There. I'm not changing my opinions about these cities that I despise, so here's my two cents.

Oh, and there's another city I'm quickly growing to dislike to the point of hatred:

Las Vegas - The city has been historically about gambling and tourism and because of this, they've been heavily stigmatized as being fundamentally un-viable for pro sports to work there. With the growing acceptance of fantasy sports in the new 10s, the stigma of the city has been lessened (but not much) to allow Vegas to have two sports teams (three, actually, in the case of the Athletics; maybe a fourth one if the NBA wants to add a team there) plant the roots there. Residents of the Vegas area who follow their teams are mainly transplants from other states who just want something new to follow and only started showing support for their city's teams, which earns them my contempt. Yes, I'm fully aware that there are cities here in America that have the "Transplant Syndrome" (LA for a great example of this phenomenon, admittedly) but none stick out like Vegas.

I knew once Kuz got off the schneid he would start contributing regularly. His play on that line to the eyeball test just looked so complimentary. So nice to see him finally getting rewarded. He's so creative down low, we just haven't had that tool in the box since Vilardi left town.

No Jeannot in Colorado, let's hope it's not season ending.

Also, for those of us hoping Turcs would be back. Hiller says "...with an upper-body injury, has not yet been ruled out to make the trip."
May bring up Lee or Thomas?

I caught the first 2 periods so I missed what happened to Jeannot. Kings looked high energy. Hopefully, they bring that same energy into Colorado.

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed Danault to score the gwg:

First of all a huge thank you to Nyssa for organizing tickets to the jammer family return to staples. We got to do the fist bump tunnel before the game with several former and current LGKer's. Bob Miller even came out to say hi to a bunch of us. Great way to kick off the game. Any time the rangers are in town there are a ton of blue sweaters but thankfully even the only chance they had to cheer was after a review and Kuemper had nearly pulled that save off. Jeannot taking out Rempe was awesome, really unfortunate to see him go off the ice gingerly in the third. The stretch run is going to try this teams depth for sure, but they have made a significant statement with their victories over the canes, bruins and rangers. Other players that stood out as having really good games were Danault of course, Kuzy had some dominant board work and just dominated a couple of shifts. Fiala and Byfield continue to be prime time viewing. Spence had a huge hit along the boards as did Gav. Best moment of the night though was sealing the win. Not sure how long it will be before we make it back but the whole in game experience was definitely more balanced than in the past. I don't want to say they turned down the noise but there was much more of a focus on the game with minimal "fan engagement presented by" moments than I remember. Great time and a great win!

I felt that was a more entertaining game than the 7-2 blow outs tho I like a close game moreso. Finding other ways to win is nice. Quick looked grumpy as usual (tears). Kuzmenko is being Kuzperfectfitforusrightnow which is good timing as well as the surge of Byfield and Fiala and even Moore and Danault seeming to find some game. All good things!

No Jeannot in Colorado, let's hope it's not season ending.

Ugh I'll be pissed he'd be huge against the Oilers I think. His stick smack showed I think he knows he's out for a bit.
